Hi everyone,
Still lurking and hope everyone is managing to keep warm.
For those of you suffering aches & pains especially, if you get a chance to try out Bowen Technique or Bowen Therapy then give it a go.
I'm unashamedly plugging the therapy thats keept me going for the last decade, that I have trained in and now have several lady clients that belong to our 'lifestage' that are benefiting from Bowen.
If you go to any health fayres etc you may well find someone local to you and should be able to have a taster really cheaply
keep warm (or cool as the case may be :rotfl:)

I have never heard of bowens therapy, but will look it up. I am going to take a couple of painkillers half an hour before bed time to see if that helps. I have wondered aboutthe benefits of taking glucosomine &/ or chondrite (sp) and wondered if any one had found it effective, and CHEAP (cos its all about ms!)

Oh Hello All,
OMG another 6 inches of snow & still falling - must be about 9ins now here in kent. Have to trek out and collect avon catalogues this morning. Cannot not do it as catalogues and orders will be ruined as it melts and I pride myself on always being 100% reliable - yukkily smug.
Choille - do hope you get some relief today. I read yr other dental posts. It's no small thing to have such a lot of work done. You'll be in good hands when you see your dentist. Big hugs from meno-land.:):):)
Katie - hope the p killers helped with the sleeping. I think with the glucosamine & Cho. it's a try it & see thing. You do need to take if for several weeks before it kicks in though.
Oh Hippee - the dry skin thing. Arrrgh! I keep a bottle of value morrisons baby lotion next to my bed and slather it on when the inevitable evening itchies start. It's v cooling and gives me immediate, although not long term, relief. I wonder if a few daily stretches might help the stiffness. If we don't stretch the muscles can shorten. I've been given stretches for a chronic neck condition and against all my cynical expectations it's really made a difference, not to mention alleviate a lot of the on-going pain.
Do be careful on the roads ladies. And no falling over.;) I read somewhere that a pair of socks OVER the shoes helps prevent slipping. I don't have a pair big enough though.
Hello dogcat - so glad you're doing so well. Great to know it's possible now & then!"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Hello Ladies.
Does anyone have any experience of feeling totally confused and muddle headed because of the 'M' word? For the last couple of years, when ever anything has gone wrong, particularly at work, i've found myself struggling to cope - weepy, doing daft things like pulling 'push' doors, putting my reading glasses on when I'm already wearing my distance glasses, not being able to find the 'right' word when it's on the tip of my tongue. It all kicked off again yesterday, and i'm really struggling to motivate myself to get to work, I'd rather be at home, safe and warm and comfortable (did I also mention I work alone most of the time, my boss has hardly been in the office for over 5 weeks, and the office is very cold (about 14 degrees i'd guess)Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
Hi Raksha...
Yes I feel like that quite a lot....but just lately I've been much better. I don't know why...I just feel 'with it' again. Which is lovely...as a while back I really thought I was losing my mind!
I would often feel muddle headed...or light headed, get my words and sentences mixed up, feel exhaused and drained all the time...but luckily thats gone now.....(hopefully won't come back).0 -
Hi all - well I've now got a partial lower denture too & I am a bit sore, but it went okay - I suppose. It's all done now. The dentist adjusted/filed my top set.
Exceptionally cold here - 12 on the way over & last night was incredibly cold. Came back & handed in some shopping to an elderly couple. She'd done some baking & was wanting me to have some Rocky Road which normally I would of loved!
Said I was on a diet - he went on & on & on. Bit like Mrs Doyle out of Father Ted. I daren't tell them I'd been at the dentist as he would of got out of me exactly what I'd had done & then asked me each time he saw me how I was getting on with no teeth! Of Course I saw loads of people I knew in the supermarket after being at the dentists. Just tried to nod at them.
Hello Raksha - I have the 'not with it/muddly feeling.' Mine gets worse if I'm stressed or hurried or in strange waters - if you know what I mean. I feel a bit like what women sometimes accuse men of being like - in that I can't ride a bike & chew gum at the same time at the moment. I'm not able to multi-task just now & I am also being pretty clumsy - could be because we are so cold though!
The work sounds a bit difficult. If I was you I think I may take in a a little fan heater or such & plug it in - don't be cold if you're doing a sat down job as that is when you really feel the cold.
I managed to get burgan bread in tescos - but I doubt I'll be able to chew that for a while. I'd never heard of it before the doc recommended it for the Meno'.
Well it's a chiller.
Keep warm all.
Take care.0 -
Choille so glad it went OK. Major teeth stuff can be a bit public. I walked around and even did my Avon with missing front teeth. I tend to take my denture out early each day & still get the occasional visitor - eeek! Anyway, bet you're relieved it's done. The end is in sight once it's fully healed. Could you soak the bread in warm milk?
Minus 8 here tonight. Cannot see myself driving to OH's house tomorrow, roads too icy.
Keep cosy and keep those cheeks rosy."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Hi all. It is freezing here, snowing and blowing!! Hope everyone is keeping warm.
I have finally caught up on this thread, and its nice to see I am not alone. EVERY single symptom I have is very common! I have found some good bits of advice. But have decided that getting old sucks! I dont really mean that (most of the time) there are a lot of compensations that getting older brings, But I just feel my body seems to be letting me down.
Still I have a 5 point plan
1. Excercise regulary (sp gene has died on me!!)
2. Eat sensibly
3. Be positive
4. Dont sink in to middle age, (get hair done, try new makeup and dress nice)
5. Try new things
I do like a nice list. I also plan to try some glucosomine tablets, if I ever get out to the shops agian.

Thansk Joyful.
Do take care & don't go out if you don't need to everyone.
It was -12 on the run over & that was in the bright sunshine. It's exceptionally cold now.0 -
Hi all,
I hate going to the dentists so big hugs adn good luck for anyone taking a trip to the dentists chair
Freezing cold here too (Berkshire) but not enough snow to cover a flea's foot - thankfully. Keep warm and have lots of hot drinks before going out in it peeps. I have been putting a blanket over my car windscreen overnight to save scraping ice off each morning (it was a blanket the removals co. left behind - blimmin useful too)
Re the dry skin, try Aqueous cream. you can get a large tub of it in B00ts 5uperdrug etc, a little goes a long way/ Its bril for cracked heels too, I use it copiously in bare foot season. Oh and its very :money: I used to have a part time job a few years ago where I helped older people to bath/shower etc etc. A lot of them had this stuff for dry skin with the benefit that you can use it to wash with. I used to put a wodge of it in the basin, sloosh it round to dissolve it a bit and then wash the ladies with a flannel dipped in it.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0
