katie its a dietary thing in that i have lost 8 stone doing atkins and its pretty much the way i eat ALL the time, its the only diet thats ever worked for me so i stick with it and really enjoy the way i eat now
I have always fancied trying the atkins diet, but it seems very hard to stick to. I love toast, crackers, pittas, wraps, naan bread and cakey things, and would find it quite hard to give most of them up. However I suppose its like anything, and if you stick to it, it would get easier.
I sympathise, hippeechiq, with the mood swings. I can feel fab, almost hyper, and then suddenly feel a bit weepy and tearful. I have never been the type of person who cries easily, in fact I almost never cry, so I do find this sudden attack of the weepies unsettling.
On the upside, I am wearing leggings and a fab new, rather short, dress, which is a bit out of my comfort zone, but looks good. (well I think it does!!):)

Morning Everyone,
Hippee, I do hope you're feeling at least a little better today. Nothing wrong with wanting to be alone at all. I live alone and love it. Are you able to honour this need in yourself and make some daily solitude time. It can be so theraputic and may make it easier to deal with being around others when it can't be avoided. Big hugs from Meno land.:):):)
Bronnie - glowing at Xmas. Ooooh how pretty.
Choille Ebay report - BF's daughter put about 20 bags on for sale and ended up selling about half of them and making abut £40 profit after taking off costs and p&p. She's fairly happy with it but made a mistake in not putting a reserve price on a good leather bag which went for about £1.50 - toooooo low! She's relisting the ones that didn't sell.
Katie, that outfit sounds nice. I think we need to break out and be brave specially if we have the legs.;)
When I'm writing these posts I keep looking at words and know that they're mis-spelled and cannot make my brain work to correct them. I just stare and stare. ....
Still got freezing fog here. 10 miles away my BF has beautiful sun and because he's high up he can see the weald of kent ie. me, sitting in a pool of low cloud.
In just over a week the days start getting longer. :j:j:j:j"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -

Hi all - Turning cold again I think. We had a heavy freeze again but it's gone mild but it's to change for the worse so we have been tearing about doing wood - getting in wood for the stove.
I managed to list two things on ebay - must admit I have made a muck of it - photies not great & probably put on too low postage, but I will learn as I go along, just pleased I did it at last. I did go all moody at one point when I was so frustrated with it but didn't lock OH out of the caravan yet Shykins. If I would of thought of that I probably would of especially at 3am when his snoring woke me up & he'd pulled the quilt off me!
Katie - legging with a short dress sounds cool to me - I just bought a B&W one out of a charity shop & I aim to wear it with leggings & boots.
Hope everyone is warm & well but not too warm.0 -
Hi all,
Not been on here for a couple of days.....also been feeling a bit down.:(...Christmas is not a good time for me as my old Mum died on Boxing day a few years ago....and although she was old...the death was unexpected as she had perked up over Christmas....so a bit of a sad time for me...I always light a candle for her.
I too have felt very moody and argumenative....thing is my OH just doesnt seem to understand..we seem to have terrible arguments just lately, which is also not good this time of year. I often accuse him of being unsympathetic.
Oh well, .....another of my many daughters is down to visit me this Friday...for a long weekend, along with my only son, who's down for three weeks, will be nice to see them.:D
Hope all is well in The Land Of Meno. Sleep well.0 -
Hi Dogcat - I'm sorry that you have a sadness at this time of year with your Mum passing.
I always feel very much closer to the departed at this time, at midwinter. I think of all those people who are no longer with me/us, and yes it is sad, but I also remember the good times too.
I am glad we have seasons & although we've had a couple of harsh Winters in the caravan it kinda reminds me that nature survives. Spring will come.
Sorry you are having a lot of stress Dogcat - hope the family visits go well & things get less argumentative. Bronnie, I think posted a link that could be printed off that explains about what we go through with the meno & could give it to our OH's.
All the best.0 -
aah dogcat sorry u feel down its a funny old time of year for missing people isnt it. its a shame your OH doesnt seem to understand some men are just like that, all u can do is refer him to a few sites so he can see that u arent just being 'awkward'
choille hope the ebaying goes well u can always send more photos if people ask cant u?
supposed to get very cold again so hope eeryones flushes keep them warm

Hi Menos,
Dogcat - This is a bit of poignant time and doubly so when missing loved ones who have gone from our lives. I find OHs need a bit or training. Are you able to just say 'I need a hug'. We ladies often feel they should 'know' how we're feeling & they simply don't & so we feel angry and they feel helpless. That Bronnie article, as Choille said is really good and a 'must read' for OHs. It's somewhere towards the beginning-ish of this thread.
Hi Shykins early bird! - last night I flushed and flushed.... Got yet another wash hanging hopefully and soggily on the line today. How are the b'day preps going? Have you let your hubby back in yet :rotfl:
Had a xmas card from a new neighbour y'day. In my usual cynical way I'd not found them particularly friendly but I'd made an effort when they arrived. I was blown away by the sweet card from them and their dog thanking me for my welcome. I MUST NOT be so judgemental and imagine I know what people are thinking.:o:
Choille - do keep us informed of your new ebay careerYou'll be selling the caravan next. It'sa bit of a chore to learn it all, well done for managing it without taking a mallet to the computer.
Poor old Mum was weepy on the phone last night as she sleeps all day and night & cannot even remember what day it is. I reassure her over and over that she doesn't have to think about a thing & she'll always be looked after. Good job I got my power of attorney registered, as I really do now have to deal with everything.
Have a good day everyone. Prepare for the next big chill. I hope it doesn't affect xmas travel "Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -

Hi All - very low cloud but mild here.
Joyful I did have a bit of a tantrum trying to work out how to upload a photo onto ebay but apart from that no one was injured.:) Nice with the neighbours card - I am too judgemental, must make a resolution about that.
Good that you sorted out the POA - It's difficult & not great having to dal with all of that. I'm sorry that you have it to do. You are being wise though as if you leave it too late it would all get much more complex.
Shykins - I probably could send more photos if anyone asked, but I don't think I'll grab anyone's attention at all but I'll know next time.
Puppy - welcome. I've put on over a stone & am eating less. I thought at first it was because I stopped smoking!
I'm using sweetners in my coffee & really trying to cut back. I always was slim & ate whatever I fancied. It must be the hormones. It is annoying - I have a wodge of fat all around my waist & some jeans I can't get into.
Interesting what you were saying about being in Spain - Did you eat differently there. maybe we should all move to Spain - throw our lot in together & get a big house with a pool - would be great in the Winter......
Sorry about your asthma - do you have a clinic that you could go to?
I used to wheeze 7 had an inhaler but I didn't use it but when I stopped smoking my wheezing has gone - thankfully. I don't think it ws asthma.
I am gonna try & get outside again & get more wood done. It's a fine drizzle, really mild, but supposed to get really bad again on Thursday - so will need to huddle down then.
All the best all who flush & all who don't
take care.0
