Forward Cellular Have Gone Bust

Forgive me coming back to this again (probably not). Smartasss shows poor assumption and poor maths. This is a simpler version than above.andy88 wrote:
Only if they would not otherwise have used the difference in the included minutes. Which is the better part of the original tariff; the first 30 minutes at £15 or the next 170 at £15?Smartasss wrote:If a customer takes up the voda downgrade offer they reduce their outgoings by a definite 50%.
And I realised I made a mistake too. I believe the original Vodafone 200 tariff had half-price rent from Vodafone for the first 3 months, from some remarks above. Also my Orange phone is on the OVP EQ of the tariff, so I should have remembered.
Annual rent in different circumstances -
1. Voda 200 all year will cost £315
2. cut to £15 at 3 months ... £180
3. cut to £15 at 6 months ... £225
So Smartasss' reasoning that cutting the rental too early saves 50% is totally untenable; compared to cutting at 6 months as originally allowed it saves 20%
I hope this is a clearer indication than my long post up there.
Look at some other dealer offers; the low tariffs have much lower cashback. £15 rental contract gets £20 cashback; £20 gets £40; £30 gets £300. I know - it hardly makes sense. Say this deal on £15 tariff would originally get £50 to £75.
I reckon if the cashback is non-linear like this and if the dividend is more than 25%, waiting to downgrade at 6 months is likely to be better costwise and have about 600 more minutes to use.
And, if everybody downgrades early, Vodafone could add a claim for £50 to £70,000. The payout will be about 30% (45/150). Customers will get maybe £25 each. Vodafone gets £20,000, more than the lost rental of about £12,000, a nice donation from their !!!!!!-off customers - why have they hired Phone Logistics as social engineers? How does the conversation go? "I want to cancel." "Well, no, but we might be able to persuade ..."
If only one person stays on the original tariff until 6 months, I still say on the balance of probabilities, if the financial information is as stated, and if customers are not outranked by trade creditors, they are likely to be better off than the others.
But obviously a lot of people don't agree, so I'll shut up0 -
I dont think there will be 50p in a pound for everyone. FC's asset is £40k, while what they owe to us is £85k+, not including the £3.5k that Harrisons are taking for the meeting. Not good

When I telephoned Harrisons after the meeting, they thought it may be 40p in the pound, if the Customs and Excise don't get involved. The only stupid question, is an unasked question ...0

i had a phone call from voda yesterday, asking me how much was owed to me by fc. seems like they collating info. i asked the caller whether they were calling from voda or acting on their behalf via another company, she said she was calling from voda. anyone else get a call0

I got 2 calls from Vodafone recently.
The first one, she asked me about the details of the situation (e.g. which contract, how much I was owned, did I receive any phone or just the SIM etc.)
The second one, an account manager offered me a changing in my contract, but I didn't accept that.
Cheers!0 -
any updates on this situation0

hi i as soon as i got details of FC going bust i downgraded to 30mins (from 200 min x network) anytime.
as this was a bad deal at £15pm i wrote to vodaphone my situation, and guess what......they told me they could not match FC deal but i could cancel straight away with no penalty.
so now i have ordered the CPW £2:99 500xnet 3 contract, with my number being transferred:
this was my email:

FAO The Complaints Department
Hi, my Name is
Here is my predicament: on 15 December 2004 I took out a Vodafone 200
minutes anytime any network, contract through a company called Forward
Cellular (based in Leicester).
The company offered 12 months free line rental through cashback, which was
the only reason I took up the offer, as I could not afford it otherwise.
After researching the company (honoring cashback, reliability and
reputation), I took up this offer.
The terms of the cashback were to send my 1st month’s bill back to Forward
Cellular’s cashback department and then I would receive my 12 months
cashback within 28 days.
Within a few days of sending back my 1st month’s bill, I received a
liquidation notice stating that Forward Cellular had gone into liquidation.
As I could not afford to carry on I rang your disconnections department, and
was told I could not cancel the contract without taking a penalty and paying
line rental for the remaining months. As I could not afford to do this
too, I asked to be put on the lowest possible tariff; I was told this was
Anytime 30 at £15 a month.
A few weeks ago, I received a phone call from Vodafone concerning this
company (Forward Cellular) asking how much cashback I was expecting to
receive, I was told something was in the process of being decided, but I
have not heard from anyone since.
My problem is that I cannot afford to pay £15 a month for just 30 minutes,
as I cannot afford it, the only reason I went for 200 minutes anytime any
network was I needed the minutes and the offer was within my bounds (i.e.
even if I did go over my minutes – I would have had all my line rental paid
for).
I make lots of calls cross network and I really would like to stay with
Vodafone, but @ £15 for 30 minutes, it is too expensive for me at this
moment and the minutes are far too less.
If you could help me I would be very appreciative.
I look forward to your reply, Thank you
The next day i recieved a phonecall offering me the above offer to cancel.save me money not time0 -
Hi tande,
Thanks very much!
I sent an email to them yesterday. Today I received a phonecall and they agreed I can cancel without penalty. However, I have to stay with them for another 30 days from now before being cancelled (even I sent to them a letter by post and an email about 30 days ago asking about the cancellation).
Anyway, it's great. I only have to pay one more month (15pounds).
Thanks again!!!0
