Forward Cellular Have Gone Bust
Got a letter this morning;
"To All Creditors
The Director.....has decided to commence liquidation proceedings
Please find enclosed formal notice convening a Meeting of Creditors together with forms of General and Special Proxy
.....send a statement of your account to our office"
So what to do?
Will I get my money back?
Am I obliged to continue the contract with vodafone?
Am I responsible for line rental still?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This is not what I wanted to hear, can anyone help? I know a lot of MSE people will not want to hear this2p off is still 2p off!0 -
It looks bad.
Your contract is legally binding with voda, and you will still have to pay the rental.
As a goodwill gesture they might make some concession - you can only ask and see what happens.
Generally getting any money back from a liquidated company is doubtful - though it does depend on the circumstances. You will be amongst their creditors, and if they have any money they have to pay priority creditors first (Inland Revenue, VAT, Bank etc), and ordinary creditors come last.0 -

3. and 4. yes; well I'd think so
I suspect a VAT problem
Money back will depend on an order of priorities for creditors, which I can't guess about, but the receiver will be able to explain (if you can beat the rush on the phone)0 -
Or it may just have been cashflow. It was noticeable that their commission refunds were much earlier than others, and I don't know when the mobile companies actually pay. Maybe some idiot customers took the commission and then cancelled the contract.0

I'd say there's prob. a 0.001% chance of anyone getting any money back. Same thing happened to me with mobilerepublic.com.
Vodafone will not cancel ur contract no matter how much you pester them, they gave me the fone number of the mobilerepublic distributor who luckily cancelled my contract for me.
I'd recommend changing to vodafone's £5 a month contract (which is not advertised), to limit your losses.
Singlepoint were much more helpful - cancelled my contract & gave me my £120 rebate!!!0 -
thanks andy 88, I was going to do that too.
If it was a VAT problem, wouldn't it be the same for the other cashback companies, like CPW??0 -
The VAT problem will affect all similar cashback operations - though we don't know that this is the reason for this liquidation.
At least 3 similar operations went bust last year before the VAT issue ever came up.0 -
Vodafone agreed to change my contract from £30month to £15 month!
but I am waiting until the end of the month to use up my free minutes etc first
they denied having a £5month contract0 -

Can we change down to #15/month tarriff immediately? Or they will ask to remain until the month 6 ?
Thanks!0 -
wow, what bad news, just glad I hadn't gone for a deal like I normally do each January, sorry to see them go as whilst they were around they were damn good, sorry to see it end up this way and hope everyone comes out of it OK, will be interesting to see how the different networks treat people affected though0
