Forward Cellular Have Gone Bust

I agree with your reasons for your actions, but realise that it will be grounds for reduction (possibly cancellation?) of the receivable amount of cashback.
If the Receiver does pay out 50% as intimated, and yours is also pro rata to your reduction of rental, then you'll still be best off on your current path.
I just think it could have been helpful to rehearse the cashback possibilities with the Receiver; would they reduce the cashback or totally cancel it in the circumstances? Of course, if it turns out that 50% was wildly optimistic, the question will have been irrelevant.
edit - I later figured out the middle paragraph to be wrong0 -
I'd sooner cancel the contract altogether.
I don't need it at all. It's just money down the drain
If it weren't a legally binding contract, I could leave them to sort it out amongst themselves.0 -
this is confusing, i will post the reply i got from harrisons regarding this issue. i asked, if changed my tariff with vodafone and made (for example) a £45 saving, would my claim against FWD also decrease by £45 or by more. they replied:
"With regard to the tariff change, this is something we will have to look at
in conjunction with the service provider. This is due to the fact that any
change in tariff will result in a claim against Forward Cellular Limited by
the service provider. We will therefore advise about this in due course."
without a clear answer, i have left the tariff as it and hope to get half of the cashback back.0 -
Some of my points above were not to end up (unfortunately) arguing with Smartasss, but to point out the risks involved with too early cashbacks. This quote from the Receiver tends to support this.magic wrote:... This is due to the fact that any

If there are similar early (about a month) offers around with other companies, I hope people might now realise how much the company is, and therefore potentially they are, at the mercy of a few unscrupulous customers.0 -
The reply from Harrisons merely confirms the situation:
Any tariff change allowed by the network may have an impact between forward and the network, but will not impact on the creditor (who will definitely gain the benefit of any reduction in tariff)
It seems that the 50 pence in the pound is the best creditors can hope for (ie 50% of what they are owed).
Presumably voda will be prepared to offer downgrades to other customers.
If a customer takes up the voda downgrade offer they reduce their outgoings by a definite 50%.
Also it seems that there is a chance that the network won't pay Forward what was expected, thus the final payout could well be less than the projected 50p in the £.
A bird in the hand!0 -
Here is a quote from another website when the Mobile Republic went bust:
I've managed to get Vodafone to cancel my contract without an early cancellation penalty, but they seem to be trying to hold me to the 1 month notice period. Has anyone else got out of this?
On one of my calls to them Vodafone told me to call another number (which turned out to be for Phone Logistics - an intermediate company that TMR dealt through). They told me to cancel my direct debit and that they would arrange for my contract to me cancelled immediately. A week and a half and three phone calls later and this still hasn't been done.
I'm now confused as to who best to chase on this, and all the time I'm paying line rental with no chance of any rebate. Any advice out there?
It seems that Phone Logistics was involved in that too!0 -
I think Phone Logistics have several hats. Appointed by Vodafone? Possibly also a creditor?0

this morning I got a letter from the liquidators after their meeting
It looks like they have £45k assets, £85k liabilities0 -
Only if they would not otherwise have used the difference in the included minutes. Which is the better part of the original tariff; the first 30 minutes at £15 or the next 170 at £15?Smartasss wrote:If a customer takes up the voda downgrade offer they reduce their outgoings by a definite 50%.0
