It made no difference to me muffinhead. My card also expired but they still took the cash successfully.

I upgraded the card I was paying with so I think one or two of the digits have changed. Hopefully, according to the bank, my old card should have stopped working at the end of November - I'll see now in the next few weeks!

Also, I have just checked my bank account online and the most recent £4.99 Direct Debit charge has been removed! I only called them yesterday afternoon!

Do you mean you only called your bank yesterday or Biscit/V21

If you mean V21, how did you manage to contact them?

Esspresso, I presume they were referring to Biscit.

Now today I have received a letter from Hugh Paterson, CEO Biscit and V21.co.uk
This gives my customer id as a heading and is addressed to me personally!!

it starts off "we are delighted to inform you that your broadband connection can be restored in the coming days, a broadband cease has today been placed on your telephone line and BT will detag it in the shortest possible timeframe thanks to the strong strategic relationship our parent company Biscit enjoys with BT Wholesale etc etc, it goes on for another five paragraphs which are mostly the explanation of what happened which is documented elsewhere on here I think .................... This letter is dated 4 December

It ends with" you will certainly be plased to learn that the saga of last month has now ended, from today we can begin reprovisioning you with the same
broadband service you had at no additional cost on the servers of award winning Biscit. No more middlemen, you will be securely placed on the servers of one of Britains most established broadband providers, you can retain e mail addresses etc, etc,

They have also enclosed a new direct debit mandate. It ends we look forward to becoming your broadband provider once again, then wishes for a happy Christmas etc, ""

Well as you all know I am now with another isp and to date Biscit V21 have not replied to any telephone messages I left at the time of being taken off.In fact I have heard nothing at all, except from Netservices.
I have also stopped my direct debit for 15 December. However, they still owe me £11.99 which they took on 15 November the day we all went off and for which they have not provided me with any broadband.

I am not sure whether to completely ignore this letter, like they have ignored me, reply to it saying I have found another server, and ask for my £11.99 back, however, I have already asked Nat West to get this £11.99 back but they have not done it so far.

Has anyone else had this letter ??

    Thanks oap

I called my bank to get a refund under the Direct Debit guarantee.

Like you I have tried contacting V21 on many occassions leaving numerous answerphone messages and sending several emails, all of which are never responded to  .

My last payment by DD went out on the 15th November ,the same day there service stopped .
I dont think this is covered by the DD guarantee ,as they took the payment when they where suppose to and the amount they where suppose to take .

The fact they didnt provide a service isnt the banks fault .Or have I got this wrong ?

They did take 2 payments off me on the 19th October and I claimed one back from the bank under DD guarantee.

The DD covers one payment per month to Biscit/V21, any more than that you can claim back from your bank under the DD agreement.

DAK if there is a limit to the number of times the banks will cough up.
I can`t see the banks being happy about refunded you forever and would maybe ask you to cancel the DD.
  • Yes oap I've had that email too. It is just a standard to everyone I would think.
