The new ISP won't be able to place their order with BTWholesale until your line is clear

what a pity BTWholesale are leaving it so late to process the cease orders.
It might have been better to have left it until Monday, assuming the contract allowed it.

Anyway, practically what that means is that most ISPs (if not all) won't be placing any orders with BTWholesale until Monday morning.

Off at 5 to 11 yesterday evening, and I am already back online surfing with Orange, and with a higher speed too. :) BT landline checker still shows an open order with a completion date of the 11th though. :D Way to go Orange and BT. BT seem to have done a particularly good job for us all, there are only a few people i've seen complaining their lines aren't free yet.
  • with regard to EFHBroadband I missed that bit about the cancellation fee - don't know how, going cross-eyed I think!
No problem, i occasionally miss the small print myself sometimes ;)

Early days yet, but the connection seems so much better than the old one. Never seen my emails come in so fast! :D

Random, how did you manage that so quickly?

I signed up with Orange on Saturday (after ADSL was ceased on Friday night) but they were talking about 10 days before I can start using the service... You must know the right person to talk to?

    Any suggestions please?

Have you actually tried connecting? Sometimes apparently BT does what is called a 'soft cease', which means adsl stays on the line, rather than being totally disconnected. When they do this, it means it can be reconnected very quickly. I had heard some people were connected quickly after the E7even ceases, so I applied as soon as possible friday, and when I tried my username and password on saturday, they worked! Not had anything from Orange about being connected, and my BT account was giving a date of the 11th for completion, but it works.

Back on line with NewNet, well I did not expect that, just thought I would try with my new connection pasword etc, and BINGO , was not expecting to go back on for ages, 11th was the date I think, BT must have just reconnected me, I thought that was possible. So lets hope we all have a much happier time now, HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL........

and thanks again to everyone who has helped me along the way.

    Cheers, oap

Glad to hear that you are back on!

Assuming that you use an e-mail client like Outlook Express or Outlook etc. you will need to add your new ISP's e-mail settings for POP3 and SMTP servers.

Thanks. Unfortunately my ADSL actually seems to have been ceased (Line and ADSL green lights no longer come on on Belkin router) but at least one of the line testers shows an order in progress.

However, did Orange give you your new username and password over the phone? I was told I would have to wait for such details in their letter in the post...
