I asked could I put 1899 in front of it during the day, yes, but you would have to dial 1280 first to go back to BT, then 1899, I wonder if it would work?
I use One Tel for the free weekend calls, but route everything else through 1899 or similar. I've never dialed 1280 first, I just dial 1899. Basically, the prefix tells it which company you want to use, so no need to use the BT number then the 1899 one. At least for me anyway.0 -
Well done oap, sounds like you've been busy
It is usual to signup using a different email address (gmail or whatever). This email address then becomes part of the login to access the members panel. But it sounds like Newnet are by-passing that manually.
with Newnet signup you have to ask for everything you want, so be sure to tick the box asking for email, otherwise it may not be provided
I am aware with the online signup that in a couple of instances although the DD application had been filled out fully and correctly, for some reason it did not *take* at their end. This is easily picked up when the first bill arrives (it will say 13.95 instead of 12.95)
A quick phone call to accounts corrects the situation, and you are able to easily contact the accounts dept via telephone (a geographical direct number found on the Contact Us page).
But if you are sending off forms, then this shouldn't apply

Newnet have recently changed their tech support line number to 0845 (lo-call) from 0870. So that is useful for people who may need it.
ADSLMax (up to 8Mbps product) can be a little finicky on mediocre lines.
I don't recall what speed you are on at the moment, but if you can find your current line stats (attenuation/noise levels) from your router (modem), then it is well worth putting them into here:-

Does it still work if the land line rental had been transferred to Onetel?0 -
Well the reason for doing it through the post is I have no idea when BT will cease the line, if I sign up on line, then have no e mail address (I only have one with V21) then it will mess things up, so the chap who I spoke with is a Sales Team Leader said to be on the safe side he would send a form, I would fill in my credit card details, and then after that it would be direct debit, and address it to him, then all should work well, I cannot remember what he said exactly, as I was trying to take it all in but I think he said something like they were linked to BT, I may ring again and find out what that exactly was.
Linked was not the word, but it was something to do with BT.
So I await the form to do it manually,, he then said they would keep on trying until BT said the line had ceased and was clear. I would not start my contract until I actually had the broadband installed. I was impressed with the help I got, I looked at Virgin which had a good price, but nowhere at all to speak to anyone all FAQ's.no good for a 70 year old, I need to talk to someone, to be fair Primus were very very helpful too, but have decided to leave my telephone line alone and stick with BT together for now.
Thanks all, I would have been a complete and utter mess without you all.

I do not know where to look for my speeds, but I found this, 115200 max speed, I live quite near our telephone exchange and the chap at Newnet tested my address and said I could get up to 80

what the sales chap was referring to, i would guess, is Newnet managing their own BT Centrals (which are very expensive and makes them an isp, not a Visp)
Gen info about BT Centrals:-

Yes, it is nice to be able to speak to a UK call centre, they have also recently taken on more help staff.
Also, it is normal to make the first payment via card (can be done via cheque), thereafter via DD. You don't have to worry about concerns with CPAs here (this company is not like you know who)
But to go back to the earlier post, it is a good idea to find out your current stats and put them into that link, if at all possible.
Thanks again to Kitz's great site for this:-

But don't worry about it if it's too much hassle
You can put your tel number into a line checker such as this one which will give some idea

so now, hopefully, a little less to worry about0 -

Not sure, I only have the free weekend call package. I never bother switching land line rental as the small saving would be outweighed by the cost if the new company decided to block access to 1899 and so on.0 -

Again, our thoughts entirely0
