I was originally with Fast 4 then was shuffled along a line of ISP's all of which took the monthly connection fee from my CC, is this legal, I only gave Fast 4 permission to take money each month ...
You can claim the money back via the c/c provider. I have done so successfully.

The original Fast4' payments were handled via V21 who were bought by Biscit. So, it wasn't Fast4 who were debeting the card after the shuffle.

I use Primus Saver Option 2 after reading of it on MSE.

    There is no connection fee.

Summary of last bill (Feb):all approx
    1 call to 0870 10.5p
    1 call to 0844 3.5p
    19 calls various 01/02 (incl geoisp) 0p

    sub total 14p
    vat 2p
    Total 16p

    21 calls approx 400mins

I too have found that 08089933127 is permanently engaged.
    Move along, nothing to see.
  • I'm on 9933127 at the moment. After a couple of redials I connected OK. Looks like it's farewell to flexi/v21/biscit etc. etc. I've gone for BT together option 3 (basically free calls at any time), and I'm going to use Geo. Anybody know how to send emails via Outlook Express with this setup?
    Cheers, Dave

    See post 1266.
Geoisp don't appear to offer email.

Basically I used my old tiscali address to send an email whilst on geoisp,it sent OK. Mixing isps doesn't usually work.

I knew the recipient would use the reply button back to that address so the reply was picked up in the usual way, when OE checked for mail.

I don't know about using your v21/biscit/flexi address, I didn't use mine because I had been receiving error messages about being unable to connect to pop server for days so avoided it altogether.

I suppose the best thing would be to have an independant account with gmail or similar.
I'm sure others more technical than me can advise you whats best to do.

How much for installation (dish etc..) and are the monthly charges inclusive of VAT.?

Free installation of Sky dish and box. Broadband has a £20 connection fee and the £20.00 is incl VAT

Thanks Spud, I misread then misunderstood because I went to the Geoisp website and it pointed me to the 18185 and 1899 websites to get the 'free' calls. These websites both have a connection fee for each call of 5p, regardless of how long you are connected for.

I'll have a look at Primus and see if it is right for me.

    Update:-

Just signed up for Primus Option2. Feeling slightly nervous as there's "no such thing as a free lunch"! At the time I phone I was offered Broadband For £13.99 if I took it for 18 months. I declined untill I've decided I'm happy with the call package
  • Spud17,
Thanks for that. I use a freeserve email addy that I have had for years (never used speed-mail even if it had ever worked!), and have been able to send and receive via OE and flexi-surf/v21 account. I know that I can do this via webmail on Orange/freeserve website.
I will try to send via the orange smtp on OE using Geo. By the way, how does Geoisp make their money??????
    Cheers, Dave

It does seem too good to be true, I've been with Primus just under a year.
It took 3or4 weeks to be set up with them having to contact BT.
Spoke to customer services a couple of times, every time they've been pleasant and helpful.

What did anyone think of this evenings Watchdog?
Didn't I read somewhere they were due to report on Biscit?

What a great survey, it really helped me decide on a BB provider. NOT.
    Move along, nothing to see.
