If you have a phone deal with free calls to 02 nos, have a look at https://www.geoisp.co.uk.
There are no charges, no email in fact nothing but access to the internet, you pick your own user name and password and off you go.
You could use it as a backup just in case biscit disappears, at least you would be able to keep up to date with the situation here.

    Repeat
Only use if you have a phone deal which gives free calls to 01/02 numbers.

I'm using them now! Great! I'm with Primus so I hope they don't charge me. I need to remember not to be on for more than an hour as I think calls are only free for up to an hour!

My flatmate has noticed a good deal with virgin broadband anyway so we may be going with that....
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

    Hi there

I'm with Primus and have used https://www.geoisp.co.uk several times over the last few weeks when biscit has been particularly cr*p.

About 10 days ago I had a Primus bill and whilst all the calls were shown, I didn't get charged a penny.

Also, I think you can stay on for 90 minutes at a time before they start charging.

I believe most isps don't allow you to send email if it's from another isp (you know what I'm trying to say) with the demise of Biscit I tried sending an email using my old Tiscali address whilst on geoisp, that seemed to work fine.
That could be a temporary option for some.

Before someone else says it, we should all sign up to something like g mail (others are available).

A few days back I had a small whinge that Primus had not emailed some BB info as they had promised. I rang them 6pm Friday evening and asked what had happened to the promised info. There was a short wait, I was then told it was being re-sent immediately. Within minutes I received an email from them with the info and a line saying they hoped all was now OK.

    What a contrast to Biscit/v21!

Still not sure if I can justify BB tho.
    Move along, nothing to see.

I've had good connection with Biscit etc over the past few months, in fact I've only had the one little blip, I'm on dial up for £4.99 a month so don't really ask much from my computer. I can see myself being the only customer left with my present ISP whoever they are ... they are right good with me, I haven't paid anything since December. :rotfl:

    I signed with Fast4 dial-up £7-99 unlimited yesterday.
What a contrast to the rubbish we put up with from Biscit.
Within minutes of signing up,I entered the members area to find ALL my details and already it was showing my next payment is for 19th April.
It shows 168 hours a week and current usage to date.
Secure messages can be sent and ANSWERED.
There`s also the option to change your payment method to DD.

V21 dial-up is not dead! I am using one of the alternative numbers 0808 9933127. Response time is brilliant but then I am one of the few using it.

I have only just found out that I am likely to be cut off at any moment but I have a pay as you go dialup provider as backup when it happens. I suppose I should be looking to move to broadband but where? I've heard BT provide a reliable service.

I'm sorry to see this saga is still going on.

Chris357 I moved over to BT last December, it isn't the cheapest overall but does offer 'extras' which might be useful to you. I have had absolutely no problems, equipment is great and everything works all the time just fine. I originally decided to go with them for peace of mind and as a 'stop gap' and am very happy I did - I doubt I will change. I should mention one problem though I suppose - they haven't charged me for anything yet :D:D

Not even the 5p connection charge?

Yep, I rang 08089933025 on the telephone and got the pre-recorded message that the service I was trying to reach is no longer available, whoops, down to just one number now and it is deffo very busy, my computer re-dials a couple of dozen times before I get connected. The good news is that I'm not being charged for phoning 08089933025 on my land-line. How very good of them. :rotfl:
