    You can`t set up a DD without giving your sort code and account number!

    Sorry alared, it was just the way you worded it that lead me to believe that you did not have to resubmit the DD details but simply agree to let Biscit use the old details to set up a new DD.

    They already have your bank details to set up a DD but they need your permission to set it up.
    By clicking on the link,it accepts your DD request and then gives you the option to print the DD guarantee agreement.

    I can't find the FAQ page on the Biscit website saying I can cancel with immediate effect as posted by Gromit2. Could someone please post a link as I wish to send it with the cancellation form should I decide to cancel. It's almost the final straw so I want to be prepared.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi internalaffairs,

    Here's the link to the V21/Biscit Customer Portal which contains the FAQ:
    http://portal.v21.co.uk/index.asp?exec=faq&htype=2&channel=FAQ's

    You'll find the question "Am I tied into a specific length of contract?" in the Dial-Up Packages (0808 access) FAQs.

    Alared - thanks for that explanation about why they are asking for new payment details; as I consider myself to have cancelled my account with them and I have a record of my cancel request I feel no need to spend any further time or money in dealings with this incompetent bunch of...

  • The snowball effect....or rodents leaving a sinking ship?

    (un)Surprisingly H Paterson did NOT turn up for his allocated 'questioning' on Radio 4 You and Yours today and was 'judged' in absentia.

    Least the servers haven't been sold off yet.....

    Im keeping my finger crossed that I am able to submit my diret debit today, trouble is i keep getting page not found. Hopefully the missing php file, that seems to be causing the page errors will be restored to biscit's server soon.

    5 days on and I still cannot submit my direct debit details, the page still cannot be found.

    Has anyone else had any luck?

    Intresting stuff, so Hugh Paterson has resigned. Thanks for the post.
  • If you're going to make a statement like that then it would be helpful to provide a link giving more info.

    The only link i have is this one, perhaps there are more?

    Hmmm.... look out for 186k/Sleezydsl on the horizon ;)

    It might be a good time to be giving some serious thought to moving to a decent provider ASAP ?

    I managed to set it up last Wed but so far there`s nothing showing on my bank account,which I`ll be checking every day.

    OK, today is only the fifth "working day" and I don`t know how long it would take.
    Reading the latest posts about these resignations,I wouldn`t be surprised if there`s nobody there to deal with accounts.

    Biscit seems to be a rudderless ship about to hit the rocks anytime.
    I think it`s only a matter of time before we`re all cut off and left without an ISP.
    I think it`s time to draw up a plan and have another ISP ready to go to,WHEN and not IF,this occurs.

    The £4-99 was good when it was run by https://www.fast4.net but since Biscit took over the service has crumbled.
    Actually F4 might be a good alternative.
  • If seriously considering Fast4, be sure to carefully read their terms&conditions.

    these are their broadband terms (different ones for dialup) :-

    you need to be aware of this clause:-
    1.14 "Exit Fee" means that in the event that you wish to move providers or cancel the service provided to you, within the first 12 months you will be liable to pay back the £70 connection fees applicable.

    and has a number of *helpful* additions, such as these:-
    4.4 You acknowledge that it is technically impracticable to provide the Service free from errors and/or faults and Fast4 Internet does not undertake to do so. Fast4 Internet shall provide a Helpdesk Facility to enable faults to be reported and resolved but does not warrant that all faults will be corrected.
    :)

    4.7 You acknowledge that due to contention on both the BT network and Fast4 Internet's access link, the speed of the Service may be reduced or may not be available at times.
    :)

    16.2 After the Start Date this Agreement may be terminated as follows and the cancellation provisions of the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 (the "Distance Selling Regulations") will not apply to the Service:

    16.4 Fast4 Internet shall be entitled to terminate this Agreement in the event that:
    (a) the contract between Fast4 Internet and BT enabling Fast4 Internet to provide the Service is terminated;
    (b) the service provided to Fast4 Internet by BT is not of the quality deemed by Fast4 Internet to be appropriate to provide the Services;

    16.8 In the event that Fast4 Internet agrees to you migrating your connection to an alternative provider, you must pay all the Charges due, up to and including the date of expiry of the Minimum Period.
    Hmmm... sounds like migrations out could be tricky

    also helpfully discussed over here :-
    1.5 "Minimum Period" means a period of 3 months commencing from the Start Date;
