  • Ended already. Mobiles were boasting (among many other things) about 2 YEARS ago about how they were planning to move over to direct payments. But, then, you should always take whatever CPW companies promise with a LARGE dose of salt!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Was that (about) 2 years ago??
Taking time to come to fruition then. You would think it would be cheaper??

Yes, I remember that too. Good old Ben was saying that they were trying to introduce this.

However, as I recall, all cheques are issued for all of the CPW subsidiaries from the same source so it may be a CPW head ofice decision not to go ahead.

On straight costs, particularly with current low interest rates, it is much cheaper to pay by BACS. For start, no postage needed - confirmation by email would suffice to alert customers- and payment through BACS is cheaper than cheque.

I think it is a matter of cash flow, "forgetting" a few cheque runs in the hope people will give up. I could understand it would take some time to change the Accounting system to create a BACS transfer, but not 2 years.

Why bother with the email notifications? I haven't had one of those in a few months despite making several claims most months. Neither have I received any texts - though some people are getting them. Back to the good old days; get the automatic acknowledgement, send one follow-up query, then the LBA and then issue proceedings. Already been going down that route recently - and if a few more cheques don't arrive soon will be making that a regular path already. Something else "Ben" boasted wouldn't be necessary with "Mobiles.co". But, then, "Ben's" pronouciations and claims always were a bunch of bull for those who didn't wear the rose-tinted... Pity, though - they had improved much of late until they decided to revert to type.

    Hi all,

I`m looking to upgrade my phone to a smartphone and was initially quite impressed by the cashback idea - however, after reading this I am somewhat wary and my brain hurts - I don`t know if it`s worth all the hassle but has anyone never received a cheque??

Definitely there is someone who either forgot to claim cashback in time or gave up on chasing them if a cheque was 'stuck in the system' or 'lost by RM'.
I think if everyone got their cashback the company would have been out of business long time ago.

Got the first cashback of £86 in September 2011. Uploaded December bill on 16.12.2011. Got immediate acknowledgement but no SMS. Hence uploaded again 9.1.2012 and e mail also sent. got a reply - cheque raised on 29th December but so far hasn't received it. So more than 6 weeks since first submission and more than 28 days since cheque raised.
Tempted to go down the LBA route.
Please tell me what is the address to send it to?
How successful is it, any experiences ?
    Thanks
