Sky multi-room. Can be multihouse??!!

I would imagine most engineers do connect the vast majority of boxes and it is the customers who then choose to disconnect them.0

They clearly do exist because I've encountered one myself, thus there's no real reason to take any issue with what I've said.
However, for the reasons I stated above, unless a particular engineer makes a habit of disconnecting the phone line after activating the box/viewing card, there isn't a particularly high chance of them being caught.0 -

I haven't at all suggested it was.
I said that in my experience some engineers aren't that bothered; this is both first-hand experience, and experience from others who have reported the same. As some does not mean all, most or even a high proportion, there is no need to read this as a slight on all Sky engineers. I'm referring to exactly what some is - an unspecified number of.0 -

Not everyone is targeted by Sky, that much is certain. However, they do regularly use the deterrent and that should be enough that you are "skating on thin ice", no matter how long you go without a warning.0 -
I left Sky due to many issues with Multiroom boxes and call backs. I had 5 boxes, 2 downstairs and one each in the childrens bedrooms.
Downstairs boxes connected in the January, the bedrooms boxes in the March. 6 months after the bedroom boxes were fitted the letters started about call backs and 4 boxes not responding.
I called them and explained they were all here, they refused to believe me, i asked for an engineer call out to prove it.
2 months and 2 more letters later they agreed and an engineer was sent out, engineer checked 1 box downstairs- problem with wiring or something, went upsatirs and all 3 boxes still had the phonewire coiled up and left hanging at the back of the boxes. He connected all 3 phoned SKY in front of me and explained...all sorted???
1 month later they took £598 from my account when i called the first lady i spoke to denied that an engineer had been sent and called me a liar even when i gave the date time and name, they told me they are now charging me full price as call backs not working so they did'nt believe the boxes were in the home..
Took me 3 months to get the money back after escalating complaint to head office and they agreed to refund asap also take 3 boxes off call back as they clearly had a connection problem of some kind.
2 months later letters started again on one of the downstairs boxes they say was not responding and 3 bedroom boxes.
Again just shy of £600 taken and took 6 weeks to get a refund. Lots of apologies and promises of no more letters and again the letters started, this time i literally dragged a Sky engineer in off the street and he checked (some guy who lives around the corner) who again made a check and could'nt see what the problem was until he opened the green box at the end of the street and found a fault. He called SKY off his phone thing and explained, again apology and thankfully went all nice a peaceful.....................until 6 months later and letters started again, this time told them to shove there contract and will never ever deal with them again.
Just like to say though the lady who dealt with me in escalated complaints was a gem, poor woman was tearing her hair out trying to work out the problem but always kept me updated and called exactly when she said she would.0 -
Just to add my two cents in, I have had sky for as long as I can remember- perhaps fifteen years, and multi room for as long as it has been available. They have never been connected to a phone line and I have never been questioned. This would suggest there is not a random element, as we wouldn't have escaped it for
Such a long time. The only other alternative is that some of the older accounts are overlooked for this??0 -

From December 18th 2013, new Multi-Room installations no longer need the telephone connection, suggesting Sky have found other ways (internet) of determining that the boxes remain in the same household.0 -
suggesting Sky have found other ways (internet)
Not everyone has internet in their home.
I don't.
I use a neighbour's internet
GPS tracking devices in the Sky box or SIM cards such as smart meters use?0 -
