Don't know if that issue still exists?0

Once again I am sitting with 2 multi-rooms and none of the boxes ever connected.
That includes 3 separate installations.
Never had any issue. Indeed last engineer did not even bother leaving me a diy phone cable.
Currently going through cancelation cat and mouse game so speak to them regularly.
Never had a nasty letter.
No I don't do it fraudulently. Just my 1 phone point is miles from all boxes and I have wooden floors. My phone handsets are digital.0 -

Perhaps you're just "lucky" so far?0 -

Neither of my Sky boxes are connected to the phone line, so they're not getting any call backs.0 -
Sky installer never put a telephone line to the multiroom we had in and that is over 12 months ago, never had a problem.0

Sky can and have charged people extra for not having the box connected to the phone line.....

In my experience, some engineers aren't that bothered. When I was having a box added to my multiroom subscription a few years ago I asked the engineer not to bother running the phone cable because the following week we would be re-doing the skirting and carpet in the hallway where the phone socket was located. He was fine with it. He connected it temporarily to activate it then just left a bunch of cable. I had to sign off on the job, so from what I can tell some engineers are of the view that I'd have signed off saying all work, including connecting the box, was done so it isn't their problem at that point if I got stung.
I connected that box to the phone line via DECT a few days later when I remembered I had a sender unit knocking around.
As an aside, a few weeks back I actually saw the mythical moment of the box in that room performing a callback. I think I've seen one of the other boxes perform a callback before too but I have no idea with how much frequency they perform them.0 -

Sky insist that all Multi-Screen (as it's now called) installations have both boxes connected to the same fixed and operational landline. Any installer who "is fine with" the customer signing to say all work has been completed is not doing his job properly and would be subject to disciplinary action if discovered.0 -

I've no doubt whatsoever that Sky do insist on that given that it is in their terms and conditions for multiroom but it would be very difficult for the customer to prove that the engineer didn't do it. The engineer has to connect the box to the phone line to activate it in the first place and the customer has to sign off on the work done, which includes signing off on the box being connected to the phone line.
At this point, the burden of proof that the engineer did not do his job properly lies with the customer if the customer wishes to argue that point. The engineer has two pieces of evidence, one of which is the box actually using the phone line for activation, that says he did do his job; even if he later disconnected the box from the phone line for whatever reason. Unless there was a pattern of complaints about the same engineer disconnecting the box from the phone line, it would be unlikely that this would be discovered as I would imagine most engineers do connect the vast majority of boxes and it is the customers who then choose to disconnect them.0 -
Engineer connected my multiroom box up to install it, but as the phone line was so far away he just left the cable and said I may need to plug it in if sky ask.
3 years later and I've never had a letter, and I've left and gone back inbetween0
