Nope... It did not format the phone.....all my data, snaps, video, application setup on the first screen etc..etc...are just fine....just the third screen was wiped...that's all.
I got the hang issue one more time when messing around with Wifi and "3" connectivity. Tried your remedy, and it did not work... tried the two button solution, all was fine...this time the third screen was intact ... no issues....
Strange...because the power button by itself is Nokia's official method. Never tried it though so can't comment if it works or not.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Had one crash playing Need For Speed (not suprised it's nearly a whole gigabyte game)
Reset phone holding down power button until feel 3 vibrations. It restarted, no data lost or changed what-so-ever.
Not heard of holding both down. Perhaps just does the same.0 -
Thanks to your query, I had not thought of removing the thin plastic film, until I read this. I experimented and found following differences.
With the Sheet left in place :
1. The photos appears to be brightened artificially.
2. The camera struggles for Auto-focus.
With the sheet removed....
wow.:j......the colours are vibrant and the auto focus is spot on ....
I am really impressed with the camera now ...superb work done by Nokia.....:T
Thanks for the info. Will take off my cover straight away!0 -

Ok, so had my first freeze last night, but holding down the power button didn't work the first few times. I started to panic but didn't want to use the menu button too and hard reset. Kept trying and eventually it turned off. When I turned it on again all was back to normal! phew.
However in the last few days (before the freeze) the social networks widget on my home screen has stopped working, click it - just goes to white page, with only options being exit or view open applications. I've taken it off and put it back again and still not working, turned phone off etc, no difference.
In addition, weirdly in the last three days (same timeframe as social networks issue), my delivery reports for texts no longer show the name of the person (from my contacts), just the phone number. Even for people it previously showed the name for.
Very odd. Will be keeping an eye on everything else. If anyone knows fixes I'd be very grateful!
Thanks,

What is the best deal on the N8 please?
A friend wants one of these, is with Orange at the moment, but wants to get the best possible package.
Thanks

Personally, the best fix i've found for this is to not use the widget at all.
Not because it was freezing but becasue I didn't like the way it worked.
I find it more user friendly to access facebook on the mobile page rather than through the facebook app on the 5800 and the social widget on the n8.
I have tried looking for a app/widget that is as good as the mobile site but, alas nothing yet0 -

Actually I agree, I did like the way it looked on the page though, but you can't see who has liked a comment, just that someone has etc..
Thx

hi,
when i get my N8 i wanted to get a ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD for front and back, a mate of mine has the iPhone4 he put the full ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD which is front back and sides on, the only problem he has was when he used the griffin graphite case which was ok a first but as the phone got hot the font edges started to bubble, as soon as he noticed what was happening he took the case off and pushed the shield back down before it got worser.
my point is what case should i get where i do not het this problem? any ideas and suggestion would be greatful.
thanks0 -
