Keep trying - it will def turn off and then you'll be able to turn it on again. Frustrating isn't it how you can't just take the battery out!

I held the off button down for about 20 secs - it took a bout 2 mins of trying before it eventually turned off..

Thankyou thankyou thankyou. I held it in for arround twenty seconds like you said left it a min then tried to turn it on and it came back to like!! Strangely I noticed when the phone was "dead" the camera lense was open though the next time i started the camera app it all went back as it should do. phew im so releaved was starting to get a little stressed here.

No probs, same thing happened to me the other night, I panicked too

I'm still having bother with my phone just turning itself off and resetting, I've been in touch with nielsen, who want me to send it back, i'm skeptical as to whether they'd actually replace it or not, so i'm holding out for a software update to see if that fixes anything.. is anyone else having a similar experience?

Ive had the same issue as well!
But mine is worse. Even after trying everything (20 sec hold power button, 8 second hold power button, ring nokia!) my phone does not want to switch back on! Its so depressing!
Seems there are a lot more people experiencing the same issue!

Anyone used the bluetooth? My N8 connect to other phones and accessories but doesn't even 'see' my Nokia BH-214 headset, which is also working fine with other phones.

I appreciate the N8 uses an upgraded v3.0 bluetooth, but this should be backwards compatible (and it does work with other non 3.0 devices). Anyone experienced anything similar?

I had this problem with my Samsung stereo headset, and then realised that it wasn't in full pairing mode! Once I put it to look for paired devices, the N8 picked it up straight away!

Hi, i got my N8 yesterday....hurray i thought...OMG i'm now thinking....it was turned on in the shop...all ok....turned it off put it in the box...when i got home turned it on and put it on charge..it stayed on for about 20 mins and then turned itself off...!!!!...managed to turn it back on about 3 hours later...then 10 mins later it turned itself off again...couldn't turn it on again last night so i tried this morning...it stayed on for about 10 mins again then turned itself off.....turned it on again about 11am and it stayed on until 1530 and it wont restart since....any ideas anyone....i'm getting really frustrated with it and it will be going back to orange in the week if this carries on........thank you

Schoolboy error, put it into pairing mode and voila - connected. I takes practice to be this much of a muppet you know :embarasse Thanks!
