  • had a critical error a few mins ago, changed my homescreen image and restored the widgets to default!! first error in a week though.
  • Managed to get my N8 hanged. Had only a few apps running but the battery power was low. The Phone kept on prompting for "enable power save mode" and "charging" indication as the loose car charger was getting plugged in and out, on a bumpy road. Ones hanged, it did not respond to touch, the slider switch, the menu button or even the power button!!!. I thought I would have to wait for the battery to drain out....It remained in the hang state for about 10- minutes. Finally.... frustrated, I pressed the power-on with the menu button at the same time for few seconds and that seems to have done the trick. restarted the phone, it was back to normal, but somehow the widgets on the 3rd screen got wiped out.
So, now just taking care that the battery power is not falling too low...
Good thing is .... I can get it back to life by trying few tricks myself and not taking it to the support store :p.
  • hi i'm so glad and jealous :-D that your enjoying your N8, i am waiting for it to come out so i can get one, but i just wanted to know what is the best case to have?
should i just get a skin/invisishield for it and enjoy it?

    Hi,
I got one ABS Coated with Soft Water Proof Rubber (NOKIA N8 BLACK SILICONE SKIN CASE +SCREEN PROTECTOR) from ebay for £2.69. The case is quite good and does not block the sound. Some drawbacks are that the slider switch is difficult to access ( so planning for load a lock application on the phone) and there is no access to the HDMI cable. I have not removed the original screen guard that came with the N8 so not sure about how good is the screen protector that came along with the case.
Just before the case arrived, I had unknowingly put my keys and the phone in the same pocket. After some time I realised that I may have scratched the phone,so hurriedly I checked it and was worried to see a golden colour residue (of the key) on the phones cover. I could not believe it when the residue just vanished with a simple wipe with a dry cloth. The phone was as good as new with no scratch marks left. It seems the phone has scratched the key rather than the other way round !!! Very impressed with the case.....

More info on this ......The rubber coating attracts lot of dust. The screen guard seems to be quite good though
  • Is there a major difference in the quality of picture taken with the N8's camera if you leave the plastic cover on, or if you take it off????

I haven't taken off the plastic film that covers the camera yet, and if it doesn't make much difference to the picture quality, I'd rather not, so as to prevent dust getting into the camera area. Any advice??????

Thanks to your query, I had not thought of removing the thin plastic film, until I read this. I experimented and found following differences.
With the Sheet left in place :
    1. The photos appears to be brightened artificially.
    2. The camera struggles for Auto-focus.
    With the sheet removed....
wow.:j......the colours are vibrant and the auto focus is spot on ....
I am really impressed with the camera now ...superb work done by Nokia.....:T

What you've done is format the phone!!:rotfl: If the phone freezes, you're only supposed to hold the power button for around 8 seconds, and this will turn it off. By holding both, you've wiped everything, and that's why it's all restored to default settings! I would also imagine your 360 Meter will be gone...

Phone working fine, only thing is the receiving a new text, the phone display doesn't change!
So have to look at the breathing light to see any changes.

Hi there guys just a quick question, have anyone of you managed to get the 360meter to connect via wi-fi when it's uploading it's data??, if so how??

I just got mine to update via wi-fi by connecting to the wi-fi first then going into the 360 meter and asking it to upload data. It used my wi-fi connection, not sure if it will continue to do it this way but I will check tomorrow.

Nope... It did not format the phone.....all my data, snaps, video, application setup on the first screen etc..etc...are just fine....just the third screen was wiped...that's all.
I got the hang issue one more time when messing around with Wifi and "3" connectivity. Tried your remedy, and it did not work... tried the two button solution, all was fine...this time the third screen was intact ... no issues....
