Ok, I phoned them again! Apparently we will each receive an individual text/e-mail when our specific hand-set is despatched to our address. I was also informed that they are still sending out the units probably for the rest of this week and into next. Hopefully that helps ease peoples apprehension.0

Wasn't sure if any one else was going through the wait as I am, so I thought I'd have a look online and found you all here!
Have been waiting too, and will take it when it comes. I'm using a Galaxy S at the moment, so not sure I will cope with the N8 when it comes as the Galaxy is an impressive bit of kit, but I'm more than willing to give it a try for free!
Just reading this thread though, I'm a bit confused as to why people think it's a scam! Where could the scam be? Could it be that they're going to send us a £400 phone for free and then put some secret tool on there which will put really expensive calls on! Of course not! I remember Nokia offering me a chance to try the N95 a few years ago, but I didn't get onto that panel - so was pleased that I was selected for this one! Big companies do this all the time - some food companies are even so blatant to dare offer me a free trial of their product whilst I'm out shopping in the supermarket - but I'm sure some will think that is a scam too to plant some kind of secret potion inside me that will make me spend lots of money on their products.
Seriously though, I have full confidence that we have been chosen to trial these phones - how better for Nielsen to get the software on to these new handsets than to offer a few hundred people them! I will return home from work one day soon to find a UPS (that's the courier they're using) missed delivery note and will be a very happy bunny then!0 -
E-mail just received - which clears up the uncertainty for me.
Dear Member
Thank you for your email.
We apologise for the delay in response and the delivery of Nokia N8.
We are currently reviewing all the participants and their corresponding address to ensure safe delivery of the N8 handset. Unfortunately you will have to wait for a couple of more weeks for the delivery. We can not provide with the exact date of delivery as it may vary. But we can assure you that you should be receiving your handset. We will send out SMS and emails to all members when the exact date of dispatch is available.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the helpdesk using the details listed below.

Yeah thats the email i just received as well.
Well even though its not the best news, at least they are now admitting there is a delay rather than keep telling us its dispatched.0 -
But we can assure you that you should be receiving your handset.
How can you Assure someone that they Should be receiving their handset. Seems like a bit of a contracdiction or is that me just being picky?0 -
no that sounds a bit strange, but looking at all the emails they have sent me, none of them have the best use of english language yet still seem scripted. I think the email team need to re-train who ever produces the emails.
Then again Nielsen please don't re-train them, that'll delay our handsets futher0 -
I just got the same e-mail. I suppose I better stop chasing all the UPS vans that go by until I get the e-mail/text saying mines on the way.
It's a shame the N8 and Symbian^3 is getting slated with a lot of the press. They keep comparing it against Android and Apples operating system phones when they should be looking at it in it's own right and seeing what it is capable of. So there's not as many apps as there is for the iphone and android but after the initial play around with the phone who downloads that many apps anyway. Most people use a core 20 odd apps anyway which do all they need and Nokia have already integrated a lot of the usual social networking and sharing ones into the phone let alone GPS software which is a damn site better than google maps!0 -

Yup still am......... Was hoping to have a new toy to keep me busy while I was off........ what a shame that wont be the case now:(0 -
Yup got the exact same e-mail. Couple of weeks delay,ho hum still worth the wait methinks. My n97 is looking a bit tired and my upgrade is not till next year so I'm not too bothered as long as it appears.
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.0 -

this is so confusing!!!
i think all we can do is watch the mobile message boards such as what mobile and the nokia discussions for members announcing they've received theirs. nokia have said they'll dispatch to its online pre order customers first and a week before the networks get their hands on it. but exactly when this is, is anyone's guess!! as mentioned earlier, it is possible ours might be a few days later as each handset needs the app installed.
no need to get excited just yet, not until we've received a message to say ours is shipped to us0
