You definitely come across as OS to me, Glad. Yet very approachable! Don't know why you haven't been acknowledged:confused:

I must just be boring then :rotfl:

Well put Glad, I've had a hard thunk and I do wonder if you may be right about us being afraid to be the same with Board Guides, with Squeaky it was a bit different because he was one of us before he became a board guide. I do know how difficult it is, I was a board guide on another site and actually lost my "position" because of the amount of time I was spending here. It was definitely a them and us situation.

From now on I will stop cowering at your feet and wave hi, and offer a coffee in future, is that okay?

  • Maybe we all have a bit of insecurity that makes us feel that our posts aren't as interesting as others or that it must be our fault if we're not acknowledged......

Perhaps we need a positive thinking mantra - my mum read one in the paper the other day - you have to say to yourself each day "everyone that knows me is blessed to know me" or words to that effect - LOL

    I've been Money Tipped!
to the nice person who has just pm'd me, and asked me what right i have to post an opinion on a thread i don't post on, please take note

    1) i won't be bullied into not having an opinion, as far as i'm aware this is an open forum, and everyone is entitled to an opinion
    2) if you really have a problem come on here and say it like the rest of us have been doing today
    3) i've deleted your message, and will do any further ones without reading them.

what i really can't understand is what you feel so threatened by, by others posting an opinion.

i'm just glad so many others on this board today have already shown me everyone isn't like that, or else you'd probably have stopped me coming on here.

(((((Hugs)))) WishingonaStar! Just come back after a rest and seen your post, how horrible is that! I hope the person responsible is now feeling very ashamed of themselves! Believe me most ol stylers are very very nice people, hope you will stay!

Hello Glad! You are def not boring and I appreciate the recipes you have posted.

Back again have been thinking about this for sometime.

I agree that the habit of listing everyone who has posted can be a bit daunting - Ive tried it myself but only when a few people have posted! and can also 'clog' up the thread. I also agree that praps as someone has already stated that it would be a good idea if the daily thread starts after say for example 4.30.

I dont have a problem with the thread being long as it will get longer when new users or lurkers post, ive also noticed that the thread length does change at different times of the year.

I do not expect every post I make to be acknowledged nor do most people - surely that would really extend the daily thread? However sometimes an acknowledgment is nice - such as when someone is celebrating something or having a bad day. I also do not feel inferior or intimidated when other people have done so much more than me in the day (um which seems to be most days - lol) instead I feel motivated or think good on them.

Hopefully this will get sorted and everyone relatively happy again, I know you cant please everyone but fingers crossed we can come to a compromise.

  • edited to add, thanks glad, i didn't know that or i wouldn't have deleted it. but its good to know for future reference.

I agree with this, why should the person get away with sending nasty PMs. And you may not be the first that they've done it to, and what if no-one ever reported them, they would just always get away with it.

Is it just me or is anyone else finding the fact that this thread is so long absolutely hilarious! :)
Talk about ironic. I can't stop laughing and I have just read through it all.:rotfl:

I don't post much on here only to ask questions really as I am not old style at all, I eat loads of takeaways and can't stand cooking! There I've said it.:o

I admire you guys that are old style though as one day I would love to be but I am far too lazy and don't have the inclination though I do like reading about how you guys do it.

Some people have far too much time to complain in my opinion, no one is forcing you to read the Daily Thread.

There are an awful lot of lurkers on this board who are too scared to post as it does have a tendancy to get a bit cliquey but I'm sure it is not the intention.

Anyway, that is enough of my drivel, it is probably posts like mine that have made people complain in the first place!:p

I must admit, I was tempted to skip through but I didn't want to storm in and realise it's all been sorted.

I just have to say I'm really glad that people's concerns are taken seriously - the kind of 'if you don't like it don't read/post/go elsewhere' school of thought is often what is so off-putting. It's easy too just brush things off as 'the way things are done around here' and succeeds in little other than making it seem all the more exclusive.

To all of you who feel ignored, it happens to me too :D Sometimes everyone gets a mention except me  I think I must be as boring as Glad :rotfl:

But then other days, loads of people give me a wave or a hello.
Don't worry about it, it's definitely not personal. Sometimes I skim over a thread and miss a post by someone who's had major news (I realise 2 days later  ), then I feel guilty in case they think I'm ignoring them :o:D
