Sorry I just found it ridiculous that Queenie was commenting about life being too short for all this when she was the one who started the thread in the first place. If she really thought that she should of had the thread closed ages ago and dealt with it by PM.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Right, I think it has been analysed, discussed and disected enough now.
I also think that anything of any value has been said. Can't we please just wait for Pink and for MSEAndrea to get back to us?
BTW if you have been reading today's thread you'll notice the happy tone has returned! You will also know it isPink Appreciation Day
I can't vouch for anybody else...but I appreciate Pink and all the work she has done for us. Same for Gingham Ribbon of course....you'll get your own appreciation day GR, promise!0 -
I think that, on the whole, it's been quite useful.
I know it's been horrible at times, and the decline into personal arguments is unforgivable. But it has been interesting to read the views of what people like and what people dislike.
It's easy for me to say what I am about to say because I was only a lurker before this happened, so there was no way I could feel that any particular post or pov (point of view) was aimed at me personally. . It would be great if people could look at the posts and think about what people are saying objectively, without taking things as a personal attack.
It seems to me (again, I know I was only a lurker before) that there were a lot of very valid points raised.
I know that reading the daily thread ow where people start with a cheery greeting to all is actually SO MUCH MORE inclusive, than where the hello's are to specific people. It feels much more welcoming, and it feels much less....intrusive when to post. Look at how many new people have joined in! (and just for clarity, I do mean the opening greeting. I'm not talking about the subsequent acknowledgements and individual good wishes).
I'm so surprised at what a difference it makes! That one tiny change, and the thread seems so much more inclusive and less cliquey.
Personally I'm pleased that Queenie opened up the debate, and I would like to thank her for tirelessly explaining over and over again what her motivations were and the thinking behind her points. The written word is notoriously susceptible to being misinterpreted, and I really feel that Queenie deserves a pat on the back for taking the time (and the flak that ensued) to think it all out.
I do hope that everyone continues to post and join in.
If you're feeling a bit fragile after the exchanges - and, again, I know it's easy for me to say this as I wasn't a previous poster - then I encourage you to let it go. You are all strong people. You can choose how to react. If you are feeling nervous about posting, just tell yourself OUT LOUD to "stop being daft*, and get on with it".
*I don't mean to imply that having the feeling is daft. I'm just suggesting a form of words you can use to help yourself get over it.
And finally, if you read a post which causes a negative reaction in you, before you jump in and assume it's meant to be negative, just reread it and see whether it could be interpreted in a different way. Imagine how you would react if your best friend said it.
As an example, think about the time you were driving and someone beeped their horn. You get a bit cross thinking "how dare they beep at me, what's going on? I haven't done anything!!". You get your angry face on as you look around to see who it was. And then you spot it's your friend in the car behind trying to attract your attention. Immediately, your face changes, You smile, laugh, and wave and have a giggle about it. But it was the same beep of the horn...you just interpreted it differently when you knew who sent it.
Anyway, I'm going to stop now.

Queenie:" I supported you in this matter of complaints in the same way that I have supported you when you were having difficulties in other matters, although admittedly I didn't do it publicly on the boards, but then those matters were with your MSE peers and not with the whole community."
I feel very sorry for Pink who had the misfortune to confide in you about this matter. That you would hold that over her head and publicly tell her peers I think is terrible.
Pink - you would have to be the nicest, kindest, fairest & friendliest BG on MSE. We all appreciate your's & Ginghams efforts and you both do a fantastic job.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
