  • Well, I have just been over to the Discussion Time board, and blimey, they can be really, really nasty over there  .Every time I have look in there I regret it. Thank goodness for the daily thread here, because even when people get upset with each other it is no where near as bad as it is over there.
  • I just had a quick peep and ran straight back home again - they really know how to scrap and fight - it's just amateur time here :rotfl:

ageandjo (and PP) - I'm not sure what "things like that" means  but let me assure you, there is no "knack" or anything at all sinister about me being able to quote your message back :( *sighs*

I saw it when you posted it, as did others. I copied it because I felt you deserved a fuller explanation which I hoped would take away some of the hurt your posts indicate you are feeling over this whole issue and most especially your reaction to my own comments.

I took time to write a reply which I hoped would explain why I made those comments, the facts behind them, the consequences of what initially appears harmless banter and the potential for it to spiral out of control. I invested that time because I felt it was worth it to put an end to those feeling hurt, offended or wondered if I had ulterior motives for my comments and because ... you asked!!!

ageandjo - you have added within my quote:
    ageandjo wrote:
who said it was not directed to you?
No one has said it wasn't directed to me = it was directed to me. ;)
You quoted my comments and asked:
    ageandjo wrote:
Was the above aimed at me talking to Penny Pincher about her dragon?
As you can see, some people had also already read it. That remark was most definately made to me and so when you explained deleting it because you didn't want to be shot down in flames/aggro, it was natural to assume you were still referring to me. As you say, who said it wasn't directed at me ;):)

I find it strange that you seem to want to challenge each and every comment I make on this discussion, despite now knowing I was not behind the initial 'complaint' and seem to be taking all of this extremely personally. By challenging each time I say something, you are making this debate very personal and I am becoming weary of justifying each and every comment.

For those who are still upset by this thread, Ticklemouse was very open and honest about her own role in this and spoke very clearly about her reasons. Others have also come in and given their thoughts/opinions about why it wasn't working as it stood, for them. Having read TM's comments and those of others, I can see their reasoning and respect that. If you are still feeling upset, perhaps the time has come, now that everything is out in the open and explanations given, to examine why you continue to feel so upset?

It is generally AEs/trolls that cause the problems on discussions ,not the regulars ,who are in general a happy friendly lot:D
  • Sorry, no offence intended but, gosh it is a bit scary for us bread-knitters :D
What does AE stand for btw ?

Hi Thriftlady...just wanted to answer your question about the meaning of AE. It means Alter Ego - some MSE members have created more than one user name for themselves and post as if they were different people.

Traf - don't mean to steal your thunder, but I noticed your green light had gone out so decided to reply to Thriftlady in your absence. Hope you don't mind, and that my explanation is accurate.

    :T :T :T

I sat with a dear friend yesterday who has just recovered from a major operation and is now undergoing gruelling sessions of radiotherapy 5 days a week for 5 weeks. She is as cheery as the summer sunshine and merrily planning our Christmas together and, her Golden wedding celebrations for April 2007.

I gifted her some energy saving lightbulbs and her dh remarked that, beforelong, they wouldn't be needing them as J will be glowing from her rear end with all this treatment. It reminded me of a rhyme I heard years ago:-
    I wish I were a gloworm,
    A gloworms never dull
    It's hard to get downhearted
When a light shines out your bum :o

Oooooh, yes. Life is definately far too short for all this ;)
