to the nice person who has just pm'd me, and asked me what right i have to post an opinion on a thread i don't post on, please take note

Thats awful!!! Of course everyone has an opinion! You can lurk around for ages and not post and that gives you as much of a right to an opinion as anyone else!

You are right W on a S, not everyone on here is like that. We all have valid reasons for discussing this openly on this forum and everyone should be able to state their own opinions without any nastiness.

I really can't understand why people are getting so worked up. It's a message board, not life or death.

Oh wishing - I'm so sorry - some people!

Keep on posting - you read the daily thread and everyone's entitled to their opinion on anything, regardless of how involved they are!

You can't do it from a PM though, just from a post on the board.

    1) i won't be bullied into not having an opinion, as far as i'm aware this is an open forum, and everyone is entitled to an opinion
    2) if you really have a problem come on here and say it like the rest of us have been doing today
    3) i've deleted your message, and will do any further ones without reading them.

what i really can't understand is what you feel so threatened by, by others posting an opinion.

i'm just glad so many others on this board today have already shown me everyone isn't like that, or else you'd probably have stopped me coming on here.

I am so sorry. That is disgusting behaviour we are all adults on here who live in a free country and are therefore entitled for a opinion.

  • Wishing - that's appalling - you have the same right as anyone to your opinion and I had thought that OSers were above that sort of pettiness

    Mmmmmmmmmmm - interesting thread this!

Firstly, I am not one of the 3 although some of the concerns raised have been bothering me too. I've NEVER posted on that particular thread though do try to read it most days. In conversation with a BG about another matter (in PM) I did make a comment about the perceived clique'ness of some members. It can be very disheartening to see/read 18 pages of chat and your one comment totally disregarded. However that's just the way it is, of course in RL we always acknowledge and converse with people we know, have met or feel some empathy with.

I have no interest in knowing that Joette Bloggs living 250 miles away from me has for breakfast; I get depressed when reading at 7.00a.m. that someone has done 5 loads of washing baked 2 loaves of bread or cleaned 3 rooms from top to bottom and am often driven to look at my toilet and wonder if it needs cleaning each morning... but that's just a personal issue. Others, many many others take delight and comfort from it so it's got sod all to do with me! (Can I say 'sod' here??)

A lot of the daily thread is 'disposable' and repeated but that's just life really. I don't take part in it, thought the midnight +1 minute starts were silly (but so what) and was sad when new members wrote that they hoped it was OK to start it.

I too moderate (as opposed to BG) on another website which is a million trillion miles away from the topic of MSE and enjoy this one too. I've learnt so much and hope to continue to learn and share with others. If that means reading a long thread to pick the gems out then so be it.

Modding, or BGing, is tough, and all the people can't be pleased all the time. If BGs can please a quarter of the people an eighth of the time then they're doing well here!

I was just about to post saying to just jump right into the thread and how welcoming and friendly everyone was - then I read your last comment.

I am so sorry you had such a bad experience and hope it does not put you off.

Have decided to do old style filled pancakes for tea - inspired by the daily thread!;)

    Hugs to all.

WOAS I'm so gobsmacked that someone can be so petty and nasty that I was struck speechless for a while and as most of you know that doesn't happen often :(
