1) i won't be bullied into not having an opinion, as far as i'm aware this is an open forum, and everyone is entitled to an opinion
2) if you really have a problem come on here and say it like the rest of us have been doing today
3) i've deleted your message, and will do any further ones without reading them.
what i really can't understand is what you feel so threatened by, by others posting an opinion.
i'm just glad so many others on this board today have already shown me everyone isn't like that, or else you'd probably have stopped me coming on here.Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

Gosh - I've been trying to restrict myself to 15 mins at a time on the OS board so I don't get distracted but this thread has had me hooked for about an hour  I agree with many of the very well articulated opinions (but won't list them for fear of retribution
) and find ALL opinions interesting and valid.
My story is that I discovered MSE last Xmas after reading Martin's book and found the OS forum best 'helped' where I was in my life and wanted to go i.e. I was working part-time and a busy/tired mum and wife who wanted to give up work to spend more time with my family, save money and get back to OS basics.
I lurked for a very long time. I found the OS threads extremely useful with tips and suggestions I've used which have made a massive difference to my life and my family both financially and in terms of well being. I didn't initially read the daily thread and was pleased by the 'lack of chat' but 'wealth of useful information' in most if not all the threads I read.
As I've given up work and become a SAHM I found reading the daily thread really helped me through a difficult period of transition. I have drawn great strength from reading about people's good days and bad. I've been inspired to be more OS as I read about people's routines like making bread, jam, etc. And mostly I loved the sense of community and neighbourlyness (is that a word?) found in the daily thread.
Eventually I felt brave enough to contribute. I didn't contribute because I wanted my posts to be acknowledged or be part of an exclusive group. I just posted because I thought I'd found like-minded people at different stages in their life that could help, support and encourage me in my quest for a 'better' and more balanced life and I could return the favour.
The daily thread has boosted my use of MSE and the OS board as I read people's daily posts. I rush off to find old threads, go onto other forums to help me get my finances in check.
Sorry - I'm rambling. I feel a bit strange having read this thread. At the moment I will probably (skim) read the daily thread in future as it makes me smile and cry. But will probably not contribute for fear that I am putting something I've found invaluable in jeapardy.

just caught up with all the posts in this thread
I love the OS board, I cook most meals from scratch, do all my own Xmas baking, frequent charity shops and markets etc etc so I pick up loads of great tips here
I don't post very often though, mainly due to time as I do have to keep up with the Arms, DT and other boards too
when I have posted in the daily thread I rarely get acknowledged and it can be demoralising so I understand where some people are coming from,
I'm not sure if it's because I'm a BG, or seen as an Arms/DT regular, or that I don't come across very OS, I've even thought it may be because I don't answer every poster, but every few days I do try to post again, maybe it's just that what I say isn't interesting
Originally I was someone who thought all chat should be in the Arms/DT, I took it personally that people didn't like it down there
but MSE has grown amazingly fast and people need to feel comfortable to post on such a large site so the daily thread is a perfect compromise for OS,
it is such a helpful thread that no wonder Queenie was worried that it may have to go after Pink-Winged had complaints and discussed them with her,
it was her baby and it's grown into a very large toddler, let's hope we get over these terrible twos with the least amount of upset and settle back downI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Please do not feel scared to post - you are exactly who this thread is for - as well as all the other people who are not stay at home mums - or even dads.
It is for everyone who has an interest or feels this could help them - either by sharing their knowledge with others - or helping others to feel useful by sharing theirs.
Big welcome to old style and hugs to new posters."This site is addictive!"

Good for you WOAS, i was going to say, thats one of the reasons i like OS so much, because the majority of people on here are friendly, hopefully you found the exception there!!!!
One point i would like to add about the length of the daily thread is that if we want new people to be encouraged to post, and not feel intimidated then i dont think the length of the thread should be an issue, if people do post more than once, its prob because they feel they have something to say, or would like to reply to (such as quite a few people on this thread, as i have just done, recognising what has happened to WOAS) and again, i think that would take some of the community feel away from the thread if this wasnt allowed.0 -
You definitely come across as OS to me, Glad. Yet very approachable! Don't know why you haven't been acknowledgedYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0
