The more you say the less nice he sounds! Have you been together long? You don't sound very happy :(

About 18 months now.. & no, recently I've become quite unhappy with the relationship.

It's one thing after the other that I seem to have to compromise on and I'm tired of it now. :o

Sorry to say it, but he sounds like a bit of an ar5e.

And I agree with an earlier poster, if he is that desperate to go round Christmas, then let him stump up the extra cash. He clearly can afford it more than you can!

To be honest though, it doesnt sound like you see much a future with this guy anyway, so maybe best to be brave and just show him the door...?

    I know texting is the spawn of the devil, but;

Me: "so you've not starting being funny since I said about the holiday"

Him: "shut up, not everything is about you"

Me: "You are the weakest link. Goodbye"

I seriously wouldn't book any holidays until you started uni and you know what your situation is like...Christmas holidays are a really good time to get lots of overtime if you work in retail. In fact most retail jobs will insist you are free over Christmas or they won't take you on.

I've become very disinterested in the last few weeks/months and he's become more clingy and bossy.. which isn't helping. Although I do love him, I seem to go on a rollercoaster of emotions everytime he throws his dummy out of the pram.

I don't want to live with him and I'd rather go on the snowboarding holiday with the snowboard club that I've been on twice before. Not good signs.

But then we will have a arguement and make up and I feel okay again for a few weeks.

Sorry for the life story here !

Not wanting to live with someone and liking the idea of going on holiday without them is a bit of a sign though that all is not well.

To be honest, the relationship unless strong will probably become unsustainable when you go to uni.

Maybe that's why he is acting like a brat. He knows that once you move away and meet lots of new people, he'll probably be toast.

I thought that too.. Altho, I do feel bad because I said the xmas holiday thing would be good as I'll be off uni.. but then I'll be off uni for a lot of weeks where it'll be cheaper, so it doesn't benefit me at all, just him.

The funny thing is last year, xmas was a really hard time for me as I live 150miles from family but wanted to spend out first xmas together but he wouldn't and wanted to spend it with his family that he doesn't even like.

So I went home for xmas and had a good time but wasn't happy and he wouldn't even agree to meet on boxing day as he wanted to have a drink (not that he drinks much at all)..

So this year it's boxing day flight on the Sunday and I'll struggle seeing my family and it'll all be okay for him.

Might say I'm going home for xmas. :o

I won't be moving away for uni, staying in my flat and catching the train into Leeds, I live on outskirts. But yes, I think he wants to pin down the holiday so that we 'can't' split up, if you get me. Although I have no proof of this as such.

I don't know, just feel like he's been a git ever since I got into uni this year.

I think your oh is been selfish and it seems that he doesn't seem to care about how you feel. I think its great that you are going to university and think that you will need your money for uni. I started university last September and in the first term spent nearly £200 on books and that was with shopping around to try and not pay full price. I don't think you are been selfish about not wanting to spend £1000 on a holiday, it is a lot of money.

It does sound like you are unhappy and maybe would be more happy on your own away from him. Also when you start uni you will be very busy, so won't have as much time for him. How is he going to be about that. You need someone that is going to be supportive.

He can be supportive, in fact he was really supportive when I was at college last year 1 day a week and working 5 days a week. But this whole uni thing has turned him into a very unsupportive person if I'm honest.

I will be busy yes, and I'm already trying to think of ways to get weekends free and work in the evenings to earn my money, but the simple fact is that I'd like to build on my savings for when I leave uni, or at least live comfortably whilst I'm there and that means working weekends.

I don't know what to do about it all, I've not text back after the "shut up" text and I won't text him at all now as he's at work and I don't want to get into an argument because he's annoyed or disappointed about holiday.

I already got a few books from ebay for £60, but I'm sure I'll need more yet.
