I'm not so sure about the £25 early leaving fee- see here terms and conditions state
"Customers can leave Online Tariff Version 5 at any time with no early termination fees applying."
I'm off to E.On......im in the same boat as you all do you think we could do this and get cashback ? remember theres a early leaving fee of £25 if you leave before end of june 20110 -
Even more mysterious. Rang them today, saying I hadn't had a letter and was there any change. They said the Online 5 tariff was valid until 31/3/2011. Maybe this is only affecting certain customers or maybe I got the office cleaner.0

I am also with EDF online version 5 and received the same letter as others. On checking 3 different comparison websites they all tell me I could save £50 by switching to Npower. I haven't been with EDF for a year yet and was worried about the cancellation fee that others have spoken about as that could wipe out all my saving with Npower. This morning I phoned EDF customer services to tell them I was very unhappy with the big increase. She offered me Online version 6 but I said I could get a better tariff with Npower but would I be charged a cancellation fee by EDF. Her reply was No, not if I changed over after the 30th July and that any change over would take 6 to 8 weeks anyway so it would be after that date.0

Hi-
I'm just off the phone to EDF. Here the down the way i see it. There are 2 tariffs getting mentioned here and people are getting themselves confused
1) Online 5 (which i'm on)- this will end for all customers at the end
of this month. There is no tie in/cancellation fee on this product
and one of the reasons i went for it. It was only ever to July
2010 (point 6 in t&c's)
2) Online saver V5 (a totally different tariff from above)- there is a
cancellation fee of £50 (£25 per fuel) but these prices remain
till end of March 2011.
Hopefully this explains why some people have a cancellation fee and some do not and also why some tariffs are ending and some are not.0 -
(I think EDF have about 5 different tariffs with '5' in the name and a random selection of words from {'saver' | 'version' | 'online'}
I even think there is a 'V5' and a 'Version 5' that are different tariffs!)

Good clarification - I too am on "Online v5" (with no cancellation fees & the letter telling me it's ending 31 Jul 10
) and not "Online Saver v5"

Thanks Johnbhoy, that explains alot. I, like you am on the Online 5 tariff. EDF have seemingly given me incorrect info earlier about my tariff staying the same till the end of March. Even they are getting confused.
Think I'm going to switch to EON. The EDF's Saver 6 tariff is slightly cheaper but it has cancellation charges and I'm loathed to be locked into anything. Plus there's the prospect of getting cashback for switching to EON, and more cashback for switching back to EDF.0 -

I've just been thinking the same after noticing the £50 cancellation charge on EDF online v6.
Were you looking at E-on Save Online v2 as the alternative? I think most of the value of this tariff comes from large discounts but can't work out if these are paid if you leave before 12 months, therefore making it an effective lock in. Just this second started another thread asking that.0 -
Hi,
Wonder if someone could give me some wise words here....
I too have received the letter from EDF today, so started looking around to see what to do.
Now, having used Energyhelpline, it would appear that moving onto the EDF Online Saver 6 will save us £68 per year assuming that prices don't increase in the time im tied into this plan (finishes June 2011).
However, If I look at a fixed price plan from Atlantic Electric and Gas it will cost me an extra £4 over the time of the plan (finishes Sept 2011) as opposed to the Online 5 im presently on.
Which would you go for, the assumption of a saving of £68 over the period of the plan from EDF (if prices don't rise) or pay the extra £4 over the period of the plan from Atlantic Electric and Gas?
Both plans have exit fees if I want to leave early, but im not sure how the markets are going to react this winter especially after last year.
The down side is that I enjoy the Nectar Points from EDF, but I guess thats no reason to stay with them. I have a feeling which plan people are going to recommend, but I just wanted to know people's opinion before proceeding to change.
