For the average user the never-ending lock-in fee with E-on is a random figure between £19 and £75. And more if a higher user.

Mmm. I'm on the V5 tariff. Haven't heard about any change yet, no doubt its on the way. Very sneaky to try and put you on the standard tariff. Those that don't read their mail are in for a shock with the next bill. The Saver 6 tariff does give me a slight saving, but there is the cancellation fee. I like the freedom to move if something better comes along.

I'm tempted to go back to my prevous supplier EON who have a very similar tariff with no cancellation fee, plus I could get £55 cashback.

No doubt next year i'll change back to EDF for more cashback.... Play the suckers against each other;)

Guess this is why cancellation fees seem to be appearing, to try and trap you in.

Sorry to be dim - What do you mean by the never-ending lock-in fee?

However, given the length of time EDF have given as notification of the tariff change (not sufficient for me to transfer to another supplier) I am now an unhappy cutomer :(

I think if you tell them you're leaving because of the price increase, they have to keep you on the old tariff.

No discount on final bill. 25% of £900 annual average divided by twelve times anything from one to four months.

Edit: yes, I know I've made a dumb mistake. See below.

Its a nasty clause, but shouldn't put you off switching. Only cost me a few quid extra, plus you can try and time it so your last bill is very close to the previous one.

MR K-they hadn't let me know either mate till i phoned them a couple of days ago and the girl told me i would be going on to standard tariff at the end of the month. I think this is a little underhand! What i think i'm going to do is try and trouser the £101 from Scottish Power through quidco choosing their cheapest option which has No tie in fee and then leave as soon as. I have never just gone to a supplier purely for the cashback but at the mo i'm unsure what to do and it seems the best solution.

Interesting Johnbhoy, I was speaking to them last week about a change in direct debit and a change intariff wasn't mentioned.

Think EDF have miscalculated on this. Those that are on the cheapest online tariffs are likely to be more 'savvy' punters, and more likely to switch. Certainly going to the standard tariff would be a massive increase; bet their letter (if it exists !), doesn't phrase it this way.

AARGH! How embarrassing. What a stupid and dumb and elementary error. Of course, I mean 33.3...% of the discounted £900.

(Okay, it is not that elementary but a conceited, self-important idiot like me should know better.)
