Damm just got the letter too first 225 kwhs up from 10.86p to 17.55p

Can't find no £25 get out fee in any of the old letters I have, but it is on V6

    V6 Elec(east) 7.07p kwh but 21.64p a day charge
V6 Gas (all) 2.578 kwh but 25.04p a day charge

    Interesting rates.....

Just got letter re EDF Energy Online v5 Direct Debit this morning, here in N Yorkshire electric is going up to 20.19p incl VAT for first 225kWh/qtr then 9.80p (was 12.02 and 7.75p)

    Gas going to 7.350p for first 670 kWh/qtr then 3.036. Was 4.961 and 2.833.

Just used moneysupermarket.com to switch to EON Save Online V2 which according to the site will save me £50 pa (plus £30 cashback) when compared to Online v5.1 (v5 not shown for some reason), never mind the increased tariff.....:):):)

For info: EON Save Online v2 quotes Gas prices 6.5247p then 3.1584p
Electric prices 16.777p then 7.268p after 26.20% discount applied, all inclusive of VAT

I am off simply because of the wording of the EDF letter - very cleverly worded, but a 40 % increase and a reduction in discounts. I e.mailed EDF 5 days ago - no reply as yet.
I am a low user, and with online 6 having Standing Charges, I will lose out. Online 6 will just save me a fiver on the standard tariff (per quarter). I have just missed out on Scottish Power Online 9, which would have almost equalled what I was on with EDF, but I can still actually save money with Npower Online 19 - although I hate Npower. So I reckon Scottish Power Online 10 with £50 cash back is best bet.

I disliked the letter too and told them so, like you no response. EON for me

(I think EDF have about 5 different tariffs with '5' in the name and a random selection of words from {'saver' | 'version' | 'online'} :) I even think there is a 'V5' and a 'Version 5' that are different tariffs!)

    Thanks for pointing this out.

It is intentionally designed to confuse it seems to me.

Disgraceful Dishonest Deceitful EDF Marketing of Tariff Change - The "Great Savings" letter to confirm the end of Online Tariff Version 5 on 1st August 2010 says EDF will be "aligning your prices with our competitively priced Standard Tariff." Now for the TRUTH .. Dual Fuel ELECTRICITY tariff will INCREASE by 75% from 10.66p to 18.67p (plus VAT) for the first 900 units annually. Additional units INCREASE by 26% from 8.31p to 10.50p (plus VAT). Similarly GAS primary units INCREASE by 12.5%. This will happen AUTOMATICALLY if you do nothing. Why can't EDF disclose the truth? Methinks it's time to search elsewhere for a better deal !!!

Thanks for this. I will be moving companies too.

It was time the regulator put a stop to EDF's persistent dishonest behaviour.

    Hopefully he will reply?

and I bet they employed an outside contractor to spin the most devious way of making people think they are getting a cut instead of the rise that is coming. Of course the additional cost will be passed on to their customers.

Heavens I'm not that annoyed. If they had offered the cheaper rate instead of trying to put me on the more expensive standard rate I would probably have let inertia have its way and accepted. As it is my annoyance at the letter caused me to move to EON which is going to be slightly cheaper plus I get £55 cashback from Quidco.

I'm getting rather worried about this letter thing. I'm on EDF online V5 or whatever it is, but I've had no letter about changing. Should I ring them and enquire?
