  • 2 points for bags for life - and I got managed to get 2 points for a Dot Perkins bag which is about the same size as Tescos carriers! If the store gets busy you're going to have to ask for your points - I pointedly took out by bags for life the other day and yet the checkout girl only gave me points for one - she hadn't 'noticed' the other two. I wonder how she thought they got in the trolley then?!

I was in tesco yesterday and the woman in front of me pulled out a load of carrier bags to re use. When she had packed up she asked me if I wanted any of her spare bags so I could collect some green points (I only popped in for a few bits for dd packed lunch while I was passing so didn't have any bags with me) and the checkout woman almost jumped down her throat and told her she couldn't do that it was against the rules! She was really aggressive and started complaining about the extra hassle of the green points and how some people were always trying to cheat the system!

I very rarely use tesco the only reason I have a club card at all is because once in a blue moon I do my shopping online with them (if they send me a money off voucher lol) but the attitude of that particular member of staff made me even less inclined to use tesco regularly.

In the Tesco Magazine (free in store) page 85 is a small snippet titled

"New, go green and get paid"........"we'll be offering customers one clubcard point for each carrier bag (or any other receptacle they chose) they use reuse to carry home their shopping".

Sadly, I have cut it out & put it in my purse for the next stroppy assistant who tells me that using my pram basket doesn't count.

In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!
  • I don't think you are sad - good for you! Tesco seem to have more than their share of stroppy/miserable/bad mannered assistants; its as if you are taking the points from their account!! Sometimes I feel like tickling them to cheer them up, but I would probably get taken away to a place for special people!!

In contrast, I have read on this forum that there are lovely assistants who never forget to add on your green points and even put on extra to round up the number!!!
  • I wouldn't be surprised if there were elaborate stats for each cashier

How hard is it to train a check out staff about the green points: 1 box = 2pts, 1 big bag = 2 pts, 1 small bag= 1
2nd time I've been to my local Tesco and came out with 1 box full and 1 bag for life full and I got 1 pt only!
1st time I got 0pt at check out and 1pt at customer service for using 1 box, 1 bag for life and 1 small bag

If I were you I would stick the stuff into old carriers to get one point each then into the pram basket and I would do the same with a box. Peoples experience of zero to two points doesn't seem enough for a box or basket you will get more with reusable bags.

    The Tesco press release says
Checkout staff will ask customers how many bags they are reusing and agree the number of points to be awarded. Larger re-usable trolley bags or similar may earn more than one point. Staff have received training but will use their discretion when awarding points. The aim is to reward customers for using fewer new bags.
Store staff across the UK have reported everything from wheeled shopper bags to designer handbags and plastic crates being used to carry shopping away from stores instead of carrier bags.

I would complain about here attitude - all she has to do is push a button on the till for green points!
Tesco are trying to reach a target for cutting down on new bags how are people breaking the rules by giving each other old bags instead of taking new.

My store seem so friendly about the green system.

I sent a complaint email earlier at around 12:06 and received a reply after 15mins with the missing green pts added to my card. That was really quick :j

If your bill is under £1 you can't get a green point it seems. I knew you couldn't get a clubcard point but I checked about re-use a bag point and its a no.
It seems as if the tills can't take your clubcard details if you items come to less than £1 - Mr Tesco is not interested in you purchase data on transactions less than £1.

Not true, if it's under a £and you reuse a bag you get a green clubcard point. Try it without a clubcard and you get a barcode at the bottom of your receipt saying you could have earnt 1 point.
