Wow all that for a couple of clubcard points. You really must be desperate for them.

 Yes, I was concerned the member of staff I spoke to may well have this attitude. Fortunately, she didn't.

It's not the points, it's the principle. Huge amounts have been spent on an advertising campaigne extolling how wonderful Mr T is in leading the supermarkets in this environmental issue (if you've ever shopped for home delivery you'll know just how jaw dropping this is!).

Now, if you (the customer) go to the time and effort to support them, the very least you should expect is for their staff to fulfill their end of the bargain. And points do add up towards a cash reward ;)

In the old days you'd get some cash for returning bottles, how would you feel if you'd trundled off to the shop with a load of empty bottles and the shop keeper didn't bother to reimburse you?

Have to say though, that was good thinking to use the recycled bags and then return them :T :T I wouldn't have thought of that, but the next time I forget my bags, I'll do just that :rotfl:

I e-mailed Tesco Customer Service to complain that I have not been getting Green Points for using Tesco Bags for Life and they responded with an e-mail stating they are going to retrain the staff in the stores I use! I use about 4 different stores!
  • Staff at my local Tesco are great. I count the reused bags and tell them how many I've used then they give me the points. AND, I was given a green point by one cashier who had started to pack my shopping in a new bag before I was able to produce my own bags (I actually always like to pack my own shopping).

No problems for us with this. We simply bag up our shopping and then count them and they give us the points. We use pretty much all bag for life bags so the store that is not giving points on this is wrong.
  • Right!!
I haven`t quite read all the posts but I too am fed up with getting 1 point when I use my own very large bags instead of 8 tesco bags. I think I will pack all in tesco bags and then, on the point of paying, I will unpack all from their bags into my own bags. I defy the operator not to give me the correct points. If she/he insists on 1 point then I will start all over again

  • My local Tesco Metro gives me a point for re-using a bag when I buy the wifes fags (which normally attract no points). I might take a bag to put my lottery tickets in tonight and see if that works.

Tesco's playing the green card. Why don't they do something that would actually make a difference..

  • Quick update, my lottery ticket trial was successful, took an Ottakars paperback size bag with my playslips in and was given a point.
  • i work for tesco and i think the way they award the points is stupid u basically get 1 point for re-using a carrier bag/bag for life, wine carrier yet u can fit more in a bag for life than u can a standard carrier bag ... u get 2 points for the big shopper bags that cost 50p eg the sainsburys and wilkingsons one's and you get 3 points if you use a shopping trolley you know the 1's the oap's use but u must put the shopping directly into the trolley and not use bags, also if you purchase a bag for life with your shopping and use it you do not qualify for the points as you are not *re-using* it .... tbh i give the customers more points because i judge it on how many carrier bags they would of filled, realalistically i think tesco should change the points values because they are stupid, it should be :-

1 point for using no bags (say if u had a sarnie or some newspapers)
2 points for every standard carrier bag reused
3 points for a bag for life
4 points for the large shopper bags

that way we might actually get something for reusing the bags !!!!
