I've sent an email of complaint to Tescos website, they replied asking how many points I thought I'd missed out on & where Id had the problem. I rounded it up to 20 & they put them on my account. They also followed it up saying they would ensure there was more training done at my local store
Yes, we've been there, too. We always use large boxes, rarely, if ever, use a Tesco carrier. Our last quarterly statement showed zero green points!

"I've contacted the store and informed the manager...... They will remind the cashiers....".

They said, "The cashier is meant to ask the customers if they have reused their bags or boxes. If yes, the cashier then either asks how many bags were reused or if boxes were used, they will use their own intiative and calculate how many bags that they would have used. Then they credit the appropriate amount of points".

I then pointed out that I could confirm that this procedure had never happened, not only at our local store but at any branch of Tesco we had ever used.

They said "I have logged your comments and passed them to the Store Managers". Yeah, right. All of them?

On my last visit I checked the slip as it was handed to me and saw '3 green points'. It was only afterwards I reread it and saw that was the running total, showing what we got last time when we pointed it out to the clueless cashier. This time I'd got none. Back to Customer Service. And another snotty email.

It gets worse. I went to Customer Service on my next visit for my missing green points and both staff, independently, said that cashiers had been told not to give green points for anything other than reused carriers unless they were asked for. The poor dears have enough to do already, it seems. Pity Tesco didn't think of that when they introduced the scheme.

But just remember these points are a privilege not an obligation - I'm glad to receive them without being prompted and also don't really mind having to ask for them, as they are in fact free anyway!

You can't really rollock them for not giving you something for free can you?! Sounds a bit greedy to me, although of course pre-empting a keyboard warrior style bashing, it's all in my opinion.

I hope the OP emailed that letter of complaint, because the pawltry 30p compensation is rediculous.

Tesco have made a big publicity issue about being 'greener' and encouraging recycling. It's not very good customer service to make promises and statements that are not adhered to.

Just my opinion - no keyboard warrior style bashing intended here! ;)

True - although getting angry about it's a bit pointless, life's too short! There are far easier ways of collecting points whilst still being legit; what are a few points when you own the holy grail of a double points till-spit!!

Sunny friday afternoon = no angry MSErs, and also =

They have contracted to give you points if you use your own bags, if they don't give them they are breaking the contract.

Tesco only did this to try to persuade the gov to not put a 15p tax on plastic bags. They come up with an idea that costs them next to nothing, gives the customer next to nothing (so there is no customer incentive) and then the checkout people forget to do it! and you say they don't deserve a rollicking?

I say the 15p tax is the only way to go, Eire usage of plastic bags came down virtually over night to something like a 90% reduction. We need that here! You can't trust business to regulate themselves.

I agree with the tax too - noone really needs bags most of the time and could manage with boxes from home or buying bags for life which last far longer and hold more (although would end up being taxed but not really a long term concern!).

We always use bags for life and have done since my GF got her first one years ago and keeps getting free bag for life till spits!
