  • Not true, if it's under a £and you reuse a bag you get a green clubcard point. Try it without a clubcard and you get a barcode at the bottom of your receipt saying you could have earnt 1 point.

Not at my store, the cashier said not possible.
I have never had a receipt telling me how many green points I could have earned - how does the till calculate how many bags I would have saved.

I have two receipts without a clubcard,
one under a pound = no barcode or info about green points - just cuts out after the date.
one over a pound = barcode and telling me about the clubcard points I missed out on - nothing about green points.
  • Can anyone tell me if using (re-using) Tesco "bags for life" get points.
I'm not sure - local store says no. I just wan't to know about other peoples experiences.

  • I was discussing the green points scheme with my mum and she asked how it worked when you got petrol........

Well I suppose you wouldn't be using a new bag, would you???

  • I'm not sure if they still do it but Sainsbury's used to give you 1p back for each carrier bag you re-used.

We generally use a mixture of collapsable crates and fabric shopping bags and we ALWAYS had to ask the cashiers for our pennies... sometimes they would give them, but sometimes they would not claiming that it was only for reusing 'carrier bags'.

We gave up asking several years ago as it was just not worth the hassle, and I imagine that the same will happen with Tesco once all the hype has died down, and the current crop of checkout chicks are replaced as they've found decent jobs elsewhere.

  • 10 Green points in Tesco yesterday for reusing bags - that's my first time since the scheme came in, so I can't complain.

The checkout assistant gave me a funny look when I said I'd re-used 10 bags - but I'd spent over £55!

The first time I went I got about 5 items, and because I was able to carry them instead of putting them in a bag I didn't get points afterwards.
I've now resorted to pulling a bag out of their recycling bin outside, getting my points by showing the bags, then returning the bags back to the recycling bin before carrying my items as before. :wall:
