I've sent an email to Tesco the other day to complain about their green points policy. I had 1 big box, 1 bad for life full and 2 x5l water bottle and I was given 0 pts at check out. So I went to customer service and got just 1 pt
The staff member didn't even look at my trolley. I was in a hurry so I didn't complain.
I got an email from Tesco customer service apologising and asking me for my clubcard no. to add the missing points and which Tesco branch it was so they can make sure it doesn't happen again.

It took me 6 days to get a reply from Tesco. I guess they are having LOTS of complaint for taking so much time :p
  • Does carrying petrol away in the petrol tank count? :rotfl:

Waitrose are quite bad my mum went in they to do some shopping and had some Tesco's and Sainburys bags for life and the manager guy said shall I dispose of them for you and get you some waitrose ones . She said no

Perhaps he was just being jovial? Waitrose recycles bags for life into benches and planters for schools, charities, community groups etc. Also they were the first supermarket to to Bags for Life (and interestingly, the last of the conventional supermarkets to stop charging for carrier bags).
  • When this was first launched one of the checkout guys at my local Tesco Metro said that they'd been trained to give 1 point for a carrier bag, 2 points for a rucksack and 3 for a wheely trolley.

However I think he was making that up as we always use rucksacks and have only ever got 1 point for each, and only then when we've made a fuss. We probably save at least 10 bags a time!

Unfortunately that means our carrier bag stock has pretty much run out so we're going to need to start "stocking up" again as we're moving house soon.

I called in to our local Tesco store today for just a loaf, by some miracle I bought just a loaf and the checkout op was putting it in a carrier, I stopped her as it wasn't exactly necessary. Maybe they should have some training as per body shop " do you NEED a bag?"

I want to take a top hat in for a salmon as per the advert...

My local Woolworths do this. They ask 'Would you like a bag for this?' .
  • I said to the cashier that I was using 6 bags again and guess what - no green points  I went to customer services and the guy coughed "cheapskate" at me. I called him a cupid stunt and made my exit. Of course, said under my breath in true Fawlty fashion :o

To be honest I won't go to hq because why should I help them improve their service? If they can't hold their monopoly then that's their fault. I won't complain if they are relegated a little :T
    spacey :)

I don't know why your store are so bad, all the checkout assistant has to do is push a button its not as if it is complicated and requires form filling etc.

Maybe in future you will have to say "I am reusing 6 bags can you please give me 6 green points" and when they don't stand there and quiz the person as why they didn't.

I have found all my times the person adds them without asking - they go to try and pack my stuff into new bags and I pull out my recycled ones and then add the points fine (1 per bag).

Do other people find they need to ask and watch the assistant does it?

  • i haven't had any problems with my bags at all. your points don't show on that visit at the bottom (example used 2 today) but is not rounded up on your green points total till next time.
i bought organic and it says on my receipt that the points will be added on in the November statement.
my question is( because i have read all the small print)
it does not say you are going to get anything other than green points. i wonder if the new statements will just bung it all together so you get money from them, or are they going to give you a different kind of green award ticket that you can only use on certain things. if you understand me. my fear is it wont be given in a money form.
At last I have a signature.
