e2save or mobiles.co.uk ??
Hi all,
As above really.
In terms of tariffs and cashbacks they are pretty much the same but I am after opinions on which ones are the most 'reliable' in terms of payments of redemption claims ?
I have found a few threads discussing mobiles.co.uk (but nothing very recent) suggesting, possibly, their service has improved but not much at all about e2save.
So fire away - honest opinions of the two please.
Regards,
Adam Brunt

They are both part of the CPW group and both have had their issues regarding paying cashback, or what others would call "skullduggery".
I've fully completed a contract with e2save, have another one now and a one for my son with mobiles.co.uk. I normally go for the "clearance deals" as you get better offers, but you do have to snatch them when you see a decent one.
Cashback claims are now in "real terms" more fairer than ever now as you don't lose all cashback claims by missing one, something that happened in the past and the T&C's seem easier to understand, though mobile companies do try to blur things.
If you follow the T&C's to the letter and send back the correct bill within the correct timescales, then all should be ok. I always send a covering letter, basically telling them what the T&C's are and that I have done everything as asked. I also cheekily tell them I have copies of everthing sent and copies are available to anyone who might need them- never missed a cashback yet from a company that survived.
Be clear in what you are doing, try and stay one step ahead and you will succeed, good luck.

Thanks Lynsey, I was just getting a bit worried how all the posts about mobiles.co.uk redemption seemed negative but were also over a year old.0

I have and still do use both extensively. Most of the time there is no problem provided you do as Lynsey advises; however, sometimes they select a valid claim to reject and then you need to be ready to sue if needbe (provided you accept no nonsense from them should they try it on it - usually won't be necessary to go all the way to court, but you must be prepared to do that should they require it!).
Of my more recent experiences, I think I would go for E2Save before Mobiles.co - but since there's not much in it I'd simply go for the best deal with whichever one has that. Unfortunately, the company which IS extremely relaible, fair, honest and efficient when it comes to internet cashback deals (i.e. Phones4u/Mobiles2yourdoor) hasn't had any good offers for a long time. I watch them all the time though - and should they come up with the same deal I'd definitely go to them first every single time.0 -
Thanks for the replies silk and mobilejunkie.
Silk: As I said in the OP I was particularly interested in the redemption aspect of both companies (not general problems with them).
mobilejunkie: Having read some of your previous posts about them, it's good to hear you still wouldn't discount using them out of hand.
In the end I went with mobiles.co.uk [ order first thing this morning, getting regular update about the order process so far] having spotted last night that (a) mobiles.co.uk give you a 4Gb SD card with the phone and (b) e2save's same 'Orange Dolphin 25' deal made no mention of data allowance [ I presumed it would have been the same but better to be safe than sorry, so to speak ]

Bought a phone a couple of months ago from mobiles.co.uk but all the paperwork was e2save. When I queried it the contract was indeed with e2save which had slighty different redemption (one month difference in bills to send). Lost out on Quidco as it tracked on mobiles.co.uk but they refused to pay even though e2save were paying the same amount (£50) at the time. Beware.0

so far, all the contact details (in the emails) have referenced mobiles.co.uk so hopefully the cashback from Quidco should come through ok.
Phone is allegedly on the way0 -

I wouldn't let this lie. Unless you gave your permission to allow mobiles.co.uk to allow them to do as you state, they should NEVER have done this.
CPW is a group of companies and both e2save and mobiles.co.uk are part of it, but they are separate, and have different T&C's.
Give them a chance to correct this or contact TS.

It must be the good weather or England scraping through to the next round, but MJ's balanced and "non-vitriolic" (my words) post was spot on and almost statesman-like!! And, of course, accurate.
Thanks, too, for Silk's back catalogue. Always good to roll out the old timers - a bit like Kenny Rogers plugging the C&W CDs on the shopping channel. Brings back happy memories!
Have a good weekend, guys! :beer:0 -
phone arrived this morning (wasn't expecting it til Monday even though I'd gone with RM delivery method).
Quidco has tracked the purchase as well so that all looks good (so far).
Just need to give Orange my PAC and then tell mobiles.co.uk my old number and then .... remember to claim the redemption0
