I purchased a mobile phone from Mobiles.co.uk in March 2009. Everything was fine until I started claiming the cashback.
In order to make sure that they don't ignore my claim, I sent all documents by recorded mail. Soon I received email telling me that they have acknowledged my cashback claim.
I waited for over a month and I didn't receive anything from them. I then sent email asking what was happening. Their response was they had already processed my claim and they would check if the cheque had been cashed. I believed them and waited for more than a month. Exactly the same result. Now it is April 2010, I still have not received anything from this stupid company called Mobiles.co.uk. Now I'm pretty sure they are playing a game with me.
If I don't receive the cashback, I will make them pay for it in another way. Also, NEVER EVER use this stupid company again!!!!!!!!

To make the whole story short, my cashback claim was approved by Mobiles.co.uk, but they just didn't send it out. Every time I questioned them, they just told me the cheque had been sent out. But do you believe the mail was lost on its way for 3 times? NO, they did't send it.

It is getting better and better. I will put all the emails from Mobiles.co.uk online soon in another thread and let more people see how DOGGY they are. Forgot about making complaint to Carphone warehouse as they are basically similar A****s.

Before someone else suggests it, I will - send them a letter before action (LBA), i.e. you intention to go to court (small claims).

    Something like this

And talk to Consumer Direct (trading standards).

You can also look at the government web site

    https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp

    to make a moneyclaim.
  • Thanks for the advice. Do you have any information about complaint procedure with Mobiles.co.uk. I did a search but couldn't find any information for this.

As they are part of CPW, you would have to complaint via CPW

    http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/support/contact-us/complaints-policy

Write to the CPW head office.

You could also email Charles Dunstone, the CEO of CPW dunstoc at cpwlc.com I think.
  • thanks a lot. That's a great help.

I have sent you a PM.
  • I'm still hoping to get the first cashback claim. If I don't get anything from them, it means they play dirty game. Then I will do the same to them. The cashback is about 90 pound. If I do decide to go with dirty game, I may have to spend some money, say about 200 pound, but the damage this could bring to them would be much much bigger than that. I always start with sticking to the rules and being a good guy, but the reality is there are so many rubbish companies and rubbish people in this world.

It won't cost you anything provided you have the proof and pursue it properly. It will cost them though.

I thought these cash backs were suppose to be tightened up.

Some companies went belly up cos they could ill afford all the cash back claims! This left many many customers with big monthly bills.

The advice was never never never sign up to a mobile phone contract if you can't afford the original contract price without taking cash backs into account!!

I prefer the advice of avoid at all costs unless you research everything thoroughly, know exactly what you're doing (and who you're dealing with) from day one, cover yourself at every stage and immediately take action when any cashback claim lies unpaid.

Hi. That seems like a lot of good advice there. Can you please keep us updated as I intend to purchase a telephone from this place shorlty. I was attracted to it by their cash back incentive.
