Recorded Delivery and Proof of Posting are not the same thing.

Recorded Delivery can be used to protect against a customer claiming they did not receive an item when they did.

Proof of Postage cannot.

This is down to tracking availability etc.

Yes, but in a lot of cases RD doesn't protect against a not-received dispute because there is no tracking recorded.

It does nothing to protect against an angry buyer who didn't receive their item, which is what you should also be concerned about.

The number of times a lot of us have had an item put through the door without a signature are pretty legion, and RD won't protect you in that case against a scammer. In short, it's a false economy.

Recorded Delivery is not a false economy for me, as I mentioned previously when I sent items non recorded a lot went missing, 5 out of 50 in 6 months!

Since switching to recorded, every item, (touch wood) has been delivered and tracked successfully.

I pay the extra because chasing up 5 fairly expensive lost items was pretty stressful and one I never got compensation because the buyer refused to cooperate.

It's clearly working as it should for me.
