i have noticed ALOT of people putting the same thing as you on their listings, and in future i think that this is what im gunna have to do. i mean yes it could have got lost in the post, or she could be wearing them right now, but i guess its my own stupid fault for not going for recorded delivery!

Not always bob. A receipt can act as proof of posting. Royal Mail again making it difficult. Just needs perserverance.
It depends on the receipt. RM new system there are 2 receipts one that counts as POP and states it does and one with the transaction costs on. So it depends what one the OP has. Hopefully they will have the correct one.0 -
i think mine is just the transaction costs.....grrr thats me £22 down-oh well i suppose that'll teach me!

As above you can put that in your listing but it is totally unenforceable and makes you look like a dodgy seller, All the buyer has to do is open a PP claim and when you cant prove delivery they are refunded. So what is the point in making a statement that isn't enforceable
Also Recorded delivery fails to track a lot so it may not help. Any item below £41 as long as you get proof of posting you are covered for loss via RM so as a private seller you will not be out of pocket
As someone said the other day. Write all your terms and conditions down then delete them as the only ones that matter are ebay/paypal ones.0 -

So now i state in my auctions that i always provide proof of posting, which you ask for when you post the items through the post office.
Also i state that i accept no responsibility for items lost in the post if postal insurance is not purchased, but i will forward on a copy of the proof of posting to the buyer is the item is not recieved.
if you got proof of posting, you should be able to fill in a lost item form and get a photocopy of the proof,
if you didnt, then im afraid the buyer will be able to go through ebay and get a refund as this happened to me a few times. whats annoying is ebay/paypal dont seem to listen to the sellers and give refunds out all over the place.
from now on only offer items with recorded or special delivery if its a higher prices item.
that way its tracked and you can check online to see when it was signed for.
You as the sender are the one responsible for ensuring items get to where they're going. If something is lost you would need to refund & then claim from RM.
Recorded delivery is by all accounts a waste of time as very few people ever sign for them & rarely do they get tracked online. See other threads about it.
You can say in your listings that you won't be held responsible & will forward proof of posting etc, but this is incorrect advice.0 -

A Certificate of Posting would have been sufficient to claim from RM for lost post. Read all the other posts re recorded, it's a waste of money.
If you do say that you won't be held responsible etc then you are going to get a lot of people out to scam you, knowing that you don't know how ebay works. I wouldn't buy from someone who puts that in their listing, except when it's something no more than a couple of quid, as it's wrong, you are responsible.
On your receipts did the PO clerk write the postcodes? Or was it just 1 receipt covering all transactions?0 -

That doesn't make it right.
Everytime i see this i roll my eyes and move onto the next listing, because i won't give my money to someone who is so clueless about how ebay works.0 -

TBH you are a target for buyers who see the above & will buy just to claim non receipt knowing you do not have a leg to stand on come the paypal claim. Personally I would remove that from your listings. Your call though..0 -
Jayne, I think you should put in a claim for compensation for the lost item, or better still, go to the Post Office where you sent it from and ask if you can use the receipt you got? What have you got to lose? They may refund you, they may not? Just try. Good luck chick.0

If an item goes missing you are responsible, no matter what you say in your listing. It is your responsibility to get the item to the buyer. If it doesn't arrive YOU have to claim and YOU have to refund the buyer.0
