i have noticed ALOT of people putting the same thing as you on their listings, and in future i think that this is what im gunna have to do. i mean yes it could have got lost in the post, or she could be wearing them right now, but i guess its my own stupid fault for not going for recorded delivery!
There's no point in doing that. If a buyer does not receive their item then they will file a dispute with Paypal, regardless of your 'not my responsibility' talk in your listing.0 -

And here we have the bad habit transferance ritual of the ebayer vendor. Rarely seen in the wild we are very priviliged to capute this ritual in text.
And though it seems cruel the reaction of the more experienced ebayer is surprisingly a protection strategy to ensure the young survive.
:cool:This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

Not wishing to hijack the thread at all, but when you all talk about making a claim with RM for the lost item, how does that work exactly? I mean, how much do RM refund you? Do you need the original receipt? What if you were selling something that you were given as a gift? Or something that is rare/collectable etc that is worth way more than it's original cost? Or do they go on what the ebay buyer paid you for it? I'm an occasional seller (mainly my unwanted clothes and my kids outgrown clothes/toys/shoes) and never keep the original receipts so would I just lose out altogether if a parcel goes missing?
Thanks0 -
Too many people are out to gain reward for not receiving items when they have received items it's a very recent trend by the more unsavoury characters. These people should be shot and dissected along with the automated award system for sellers to refund buyers no matter what... door wide open and no human involvement I'm afraid.0

thanks everyone for your advice and comments, i checked my reciept, it is like you said just a transaction reciept, i did specifically say id like reciepts for proof of purchase, but i had my toddler running riot and getting bored so i didnt check my reciept-there are no post codes for refference or anything like that. ive known the lady in the post office for 22 years-my whole life, so id feel a bit uncomfortable asking her about it, afterall i was really to blame for not checking my receipt
hmmm..........i think i will stay away from the whole ''i will not accept responisbility for loss of items in the post'' thing, but in future make absolutly sure that i have a reciept for proof of purchase-oh well at least ive learnt something for next time!

i think that its a case of getting refunded the price the item sold for, you will need to provide the reciept of postage, and where the package was sent to, but im sure you could start a new thread about this specifically then the people who are ''in the know'' can explain more

Not been selling on eBay for some time now but back when I did I always made sure that my name and address was clearly marked on back of package as sender ...
Once had a teller send item to me!
They didn't even look to see if there was a larger label on the front ...
Doh!
But you'll learn from experience, if you can last the pace that is.
Recent purchases have shown me sellers simply don't 'go the distance' when it comes to dispatching their items.
No inside 'compliments' slips
No 'sender' on outside
No tissue or bagging for items.
No hints for RM to follow up on whenever items get damaged, ..
such as on the one that was returned to me some three months after posting when the flash floods occurred near the area where the item had been sent ...
My 'compliments slip' inside and what was left of my address as sender on the back allowed the RM department (there for just such occurrences) to do their thing and get the package back to me.
In five years with eBay I had three items 'go missing' and got my full money back from RM on all three.
On the other hand PayPal, when it comes to refunds, as far as I know, only recommend the buyer is refunded the Item Price ... (they pay for any returns).
Things have got worse now, one of the reasons I no longer sell.
But you can do a lot to make losses less likely.
Recommend you take it on the chin or leave the kitchen ... to mix my metaphors ...

I have just had same thing happen to me - item lost in post apparently. I don't have 'not responsible' terms in my listings and see why from above comments that wouldn't stand up - I assume I have to now try and claim off RM and issue a refund in meantime though doubt RM will refund me as I too only have the 'proof of posting' item sold for £13 though is brand new and has tags on it (rrp£29.99) so I didn't feel the need for recorded, but going by other comments above recorded also doesn't count for alot...so what is a seller to do? It seems there is not much protection for the seller - as technically any buyer could claim not to have received something esp if it turns up and they don't like it or need a few extra quid. I don't sell alot on ebay and often wonder if it is worth the hassle, the fees etc and maybe this will make my mind up. Up to now I have not had a parcel go missing so suppose I should be grateful and thank my lucky stars that this is only a £13 refund - are sellers any more protected with amazon? I don't trust Royal Mail at best of times so am now feeling I should be rather more cautious about anything I send through them.0

If you have proof of posting that should be enough to claim. How long ago did you post & was it 1st or 2nd class? It may be worth either tracking down the buyers local sorting office number & giving them a ring to see if it;s there or asking the buyer if they would check with the sorting office as often cards aren't left.
If it's not there you will need to refund your buyer & claim from RM. From RM website.
Otherwise, you can provide more details regarding the delivery of your mail by completing the form on the next page. This will help us give you more specific advice and assistance. Please wait 15 working days (from the due date of delivery) before completing this form as we would not consider an item as lost until 15 working days have elapsed. We allow the 15 working days for items to be returned to the sender if there are any delivery problems.
I think that amazons standards are at least as high as ebay. Fees are higher as well.0
