Well, at least you won't be short of toilet paper for a few days ;)

'Graham White Solicitors' is just a front name I believe, they aren't solicitors at all, just the next desk along in Scam Central. So still nothing to worry about, they're just trying to scare you into handing over cash, as a court case would see them severely mauled.

Just carry on ignoring them - or if you fancy a giggle, try this:

  • hi there

i've read the above and thanks for all that info

    i had a £40 fine last wk

i would ignore it but the guy who put the ticket (who I imagine doesnt care whether i pay or not )

said that excel do chase people and have just hired 5 more solicitors to pursue and that they'd just got £2000 out of some one for not paying etc...

if the company themselves told me that i would queestion if its just to scare me - but this guy i imagine has no axe to grind - he just gets paid to put the tickets on cars ??

    what are your opinions

One of their new solicitors was sent home with his tail between his legs last week!

99.99% of these tickets don't go near a court. Those that do are normally people who have contacted them. The person issuing the tickets has probably been fed this rubbish by his manager!

Someone who had £2000 worth of parking charges may well find a court claim, it would be worth a punt by any PPC on a 50 50 chance of winning!!

Did he also tell you that in the two cases where Excel have taken people to court they lost on both occasions? He was just scaring you. Just ignore them. And, by the way, it's not a FINE, it's an unenforceable invoice.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Hi,

I was issued with a parking charge notice by Excel Parking Services on Monday this week (12/3/2012). As with many others I too did not realise that this was a pay and display car park, unusual for an out of town shopping area and the signs are totally inadequate. If I had know then I would have paid or gone elsewhere.

I was at the Peel Centre for about 15 mins before I returned to my car and found the official looking charge notice stuck to my car. When I returned to work (as this was in my lunch hour) I immediately sent an email appealing the charge explaining I was new to the area, I had never been to the Peel Centre before and not realised it was a pay and display car park. I thought the charge was especially high (£100 or £60 if paid within 7 days, if it was £30 then I probably would have just paid) so after I sent my appeal to them I then undertook a search of Excel Parking Services on the internet and this has led me to a number of threads similar to this. I am quite confident now that I have no obligation to pay this "fine" but I just need some confirmation that this is the case. I saw that in September last year someone won a court case against Excel for pretty much identical circumstances to my own.

I would obviously prefer not to let this matter go to court but I will not pay Excel if I don't have to. Most of the cases I have read about are about 18 months old or more, has anything changed in the law since? Do I really have to pay Excel? I can carry on reading around the subject on the internet but I think I need someone who knows exactly what I should, shouldn't and have to do in this situation? Any help or advice is appreciated.

Also, needless to say that as of yet I have received no response from my appeal.

The law hasn't changed, and (as this is civil law) hasn't changed for hundreds of years. So just keep ignoring these clowns.

you are as usual quite right,,,but i feel sometimes new posters just need a little bit more info ,so they can be totally reassured, i remember being in their position, it made me really anxious/worried and scared of the unknown,,what will happen to me?? court,,oh no, cant do that,,,yes, now i perfectly understand the best thing to do is,,ignore,,initially needed more reassurance etc,,,anyway i learn everyday off your and other posters,,thank you all,,,as hate excell with a vengeance.hopefully the o.p. will realise now that it is a scam and can relax without fear of death by hanging ?
