He suggested I change my bank account to Royal Mail's address (err, no thanks) or get Royal Mail to update their database (is this even possible?).
.
The address O2 have is not the Royal Mail Address for my flat0 -
For the O2 cusomer service rep, can i just ask why its taking over a month to sort this out, surely its just a simple process of changing or adding a boix to your sites customer sign up page, glad im with virgin and dont have these problems0

I know that this was a problem in May, reported here on the forum in June, nothing but BS from various O2 reps and it is now August!
Pathetic!

Same problem here, if I wait as long as some of you guys have I will definitely go elsewhere. Totally frustrating experienve and damaging to the much advertised high customer service satisfaction.0

I signed up on the phone.
With the difference in price between what I've been paying BT and the free three months, it won't take long to earn the £45 I'd have got back from Quidco. Having read all the posts for the first time this morning I now feel relieved that I'm not alone. I have O2 mob and broadband and the set up for BB was without any probs. I now want O2 home phone but have been declined as they say my credit check was rejected.
It now looks like they have the wrong address as Equifax say O2 have not requested a check yet O2 say the check has been done!
O2 sales are appalling. 3 different staff all telling you something different.
I am not gonna waste any more time with them and I'm going with another provider.

Called o2 as my phone line wasn't active I was told I needed to sign up to BT (Primus wouldn't accept me as BT line inactive) paid the full year in advance as per Martin's tips. Called o2 to ensure the offer of 3 months would be open in time for my line - it would. Line activated last week yippee! Tried signup but as house is rented and my cards are registered at my home address I can't sign up and get the £50 cashback! Great - the whole reason from swapping from Virgin Media (cancel tv, phone and BB and swap) surely I'm giving them my mobile in the check and landline - BT didn't have these problems for buying the landline.
Considering changing my o2 money card address for the credit card check (I note this can no longer be done online.) However does anyone know if it would also fail on the bank account check (as this wouldn't match the address.)
Does anyone else have a workaround? It looks like o2 won't have a solution anytime soon and Primus seem to be an alternative as they pay £28 cashback.
Considered Prepayment Credit Card as an option - but what lengths to go to for a new provider - is this a sign for things to come?
Surely they can offer us a voucher credit or something I have enough o2 products already!!

Any update from O2?0

Have had this problem for 2 weeks now - even after going to my local Barclays and double-checking that my address details were 100%. I'm guessing o2 are still doing nothing on this issue.
The cashback has already dropped from 100 and o2 seem quite happy to sit back and apologise while doing absolutely nothing. I don't see why o2 should need to make a 100% match between their stupid address format and the one provided by card details when they could just send an invoice to whatever house the service is sent to??0
