As for your extrapolation, if it is not true, then it is safe to say that you and MSE may be liable for defamation.
Several other suppliers have been subject of such speculation, and it is usually (but not always, unfortunately) untrue. The most successful retailers process hundreds of claims a week, so it is quite likely that occasional delays will occur.
The thread there and several posts above suggest that people have told that this will be sorted out in a week.
You have no apparent grounds to suggest that this will not happen. Until then, less guesswork please.
If the moderators feel my original comments are legally inappropriate then they are free to remove them.
What I would say in mitigation is that Mobileshop.com already have a 60 day waiting period for cashback claims; "occasional delays" in processing valid claims given the already lengthy wait are unacceptable.

That is not itself proof of financial difficulties, and their explanation may be perfectly true. The fact that you find it unacceptable is your opinion but does not entitle you to adduce that as support for unfounded accusations.
Another mobile dealer is at the moment threatening to sue internet forums for links to other sites containing criticism of it. In that particular case, it does not make much sense that the dealer's own website has been offline for some time, which would itself give rise to alarm for customers, and I would not deal with them.
Until now, Mobileshop has been mentioned as one of the most reliable for cashback, its customer service is good, so your inference that they are misleading customers is over the top.0 -

I wasn't aware that I'd posted that they were "misleading customers"?
For what it's worth, I have a 2 month old contract via Mobileshop with a 12 month free cashback offer so I'll be more than miffed if they are indeed about to go belly up.
I think I'd rather let the facts speak for themselves, i.e a company with a very generous 60 day (thats two months to write a cheque) grace period for paying valid cashback claims are stalling

You said "It's safe to say Mobileshop are in financial difficulties."
You have no evidence whatsoever that the information they have given is incorrect.0 -

I assume you've never processed a BACS payment?
I have. Millions of them. It's my job.
A BACS file has four "fields". If you're familiar with spreadsheets you'll understand the terminology.
Field 1 - sortcode
Field 2 - bank account number
Field 3 - bank account name
Field 4 - amount to be debited or credited
A quick BACS integrity check this evening via my company's BACS software shows no problems with the BACS system. Indeed, you can create a BACS file from something as simple as Windows Notepad, so claims of software problems are, er, amusing.

Well stop contradicting yourself then: incorrect information that is not misleading?

Yep, 7,500 approx every week for the past five years
And given the fact that I have a fairly new contract with Mobileshop, I can only hope that my assumptions do turn out to be "incorrect information" otherwise I'm out of pocket.

That does not make you an expert on company finances and credit ratings.
Which part of basing Cassandra stories on assumption but no actual financial information are you going to carry on ad nauseam?0 -

chuckles and redux! can you do this argument via private messaging please... I think we all get your points.
Fact is - some posts here have given me a good insight into how cashbacks may work. And it just verified my believe, that they are a way to potentially get a better deal - but not a garantee by all means.
Diana11 did you get any news on your cashback!? Is there any way to verufy how cashbacks will be handle if one is to start a new contract with O2 via the mobilephoneshop today?!0 -

No news on the cashback. I personally would wait to see if we get our cashbacks paid out before taking out a new contract with mobileshop.com. I will update this thread when I get the cashback but they have said for me to ring again in 2 WEEKS! I think this is too long to wait when the cashback is now overdue.0
