I need another cashback deal, can anyone recommend a more reliable company? Or point me in the right direction? thanks
Hi Loopy lou, I have finished with mobileshop, I sent my claim on 12th Jan, only just received my cash 26th April. A long 4 month wait.
https://www.e2save have a cashback deal, I am a low user so went for this: Free MotorolaL6, free 50mns, 100 txt, 3 months free insurance = £20 a mth, cashback £240. There are quite a few good cashback deals.
Hope this is of some help0 -
can anyone recommend a more reliable company
Last year I would have recommended Mobileshop 100% and look what has happened. It's difficult to predict now on past performance with any company, there has to be an elemnt of risk. The link below will show what deals are on offer.

Jimmy Conker, take them to small claims court. That is absolute NONSENSE they are speaking. For the past 4 months all they say is "we are experiencing technical problems blah blah blah". BS!0

from mobileshop.com's website:
Unfortunately we recently experienced a major technical problem with our cashback payment system. We have since rectified the cause of the problem however we now need to ensure that the integrity of our database has not been compromised. Until this exercise is completed, we will be processing all of the cashback payments manually to ensure the right customers receive the correct cashback payment. Due to the sheer volume of customer claims, we anticipate this clearance process will take considerable time. At this point, we cannot provide specific payment dates but can assure you that your claim will be paid as soon as the backlog has been cleared. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process and apologise for any inconvenience caused. We are making every endeavour to get your payment to you as soon as possible.
If you do wish to accelerate your claim, as an alternative to cash we would be delighted to offer you an Argos / Homebase gift card for 110% of the value of your cashback claim instead. We normally offer our customers a gift card to the value of 105% of the cashback claim but, as a gesture of goodwill and by way of compensation, we are prepared to increase this offer to 110% of the cashback claim value. For example, for every £100 of cashback value, you can receive an Argos gift card worth £110 which can be spent at any Argos or Homebase store. Please be assured that Mobileshop has already paid for these Argos vouchers and they are available for immediate use. If you would like to accept this offer as an alternative to your cash claim, please email your name, address and voucher number to argos@mobileshop.com and we will issue your card within 7 working days.
If you have any other query, e-mail our Cash Back Team at cashback@mobileshop.com. Please remember however that, as explained above, we are unable to provide any specific information regarding Cashback Payment dates at this time. Again, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused.0 -
If they are tackling the backlog in chronological order then can I check with you guys if anyone has received their cashback for a claim after the 25th of Jan which is my oldest one at the moment. So far it seems that the people who have got their cashback are ones that have been waiting longer than me. It would give me some hope if this was the case. I have contacted them directly via email and have got a response each time albeit the one with all the excuses. In fact I have had to email for late cashbacks since last September and it is only from January onwards where they have not only delayed but have not paid up at all. If there does seem to be some order involved then I might wait till it is my turn before turning to Watchdog or the smalll claims court.0

Thor, if it's any help, my claim was for 60 days after Feb 14th and I have received now after giving a deadline before taking action. It would probably make sense to pay the ones who have given a deadline first as it may cost them lots of £30's in court costs. Remember they are NOT trading within t&c's and are in BREACH of contract. Really it's your call, you can allow them to deal with so called backlog or threaten and eventually take action if necessary.
Best of luck,

Don't think it has anything to do with chronological order, just who chases them up the most (not fair, but seems to be par for the course these days).
For info my claims/payment dates have been as follows:
Voucher A claim received on: 07/12/2006
Voucher A paid on: 16/02/2007
Voucher B claim received on: 06/02/2007
Voucher B paid on: 11/04/2007
Voucher C claim received on: 10/04/2007
I've had to chase them up each time but they have paid. After the 1st payment I also realised that the T&C that I signed up to state payment will be received within 45 days (not the 60 shown on their website), so I'll be chasing my 3rd CB round about the 26 May .0 -
I think on balance there is a fair chance that they will sort themselves out eventually with the payments, but as an individual I think you have to take robust action to recover any monies owed as soon as possible just in case there is a finite pool of money available.
I got paid my third payment yesterday which was submitted on the 2nd Feb. I sent two emails and got their standard reply on one and the second was ignored. I sent a third giving them 14 days to pay else I would take action to recover the money for the 3rd and 4th payment with costs. I also posted a copy of the email recorded delivery so I had proof they had received it..... we all know how easy it is to blame computers for not getting messages ;-)
If you are polite and give the impression you are serious I suspect you get to the front of the payments queue.0 -
so that is 3 payments paid to claims made after mine on the 25th of January. It certainly seems to suggest that you are more likely to that paid if you threaten them with further action...except that I have done all this as well. I have emailed them that unless I get paid within a certain number of days I will take them to the small claims court via moneyclaims and I have also told them I will be writing to watchdog and the trading standards.
None of this has hastened my cashback but the last reply I got from them spouted the usual customer database excuse and the following
"
If you do wish to accelerate your claim, as an alternative to cash we would be delighted to offer you an Argos/Homebase gift card for 110% of the value of your cash back claim instead."
So I have emailed back to them with the point that has been raised in this thread numerous times that if they are having problems matching up customer accounts but can determine enough top pay out in argos vouchers then why not just pay the cash by cheque?
As they usually take a couple of days to respond I am going to wait until Tuesday for their response but if I am not happy after that I will be contacting watchdog and am already in the process of formulating a killer email to them so that they are compelled into taking up the investigation.
Any input from mse on what I should write would be greatly appreciated.
