I am slightly concerned as I phoned up O2 to find out when the money would be paid and they told me to stop harassing them as ringing three times in one day would not get me paid any sooner.

I would be concerned also, not just at the security of your account but also of the shoddy attitude of whoever you spoke to.

See my post number #146 for what worked for me (and now others). It does appear that Mobileshop are starting to pay the very late cashbacks but it does appear that you really have to push them in a specific way to get it done.

    Best of luck

It packed up again three months later and this time is not switching on at all, has all my stuff on it and no way for me to recover it, so was wondering who they're gonna send my phone to with my messages on, so did not return the phone but simply gave it up as a bad job and am using my old phone now.

Don't just leave it - that is not acceptable as the phone is not fit for purpose (ie covered by consumer legislation!). If I have understood the Nokia warranty, in the first month you return it to the retailer. However, from then on if there is a fault with the phone you have to send it to a Nokia repair centre (it covers this in the warranty) - I think (but don't know) that Carphonewarehouse have these? The warranty is at least 12 months from date of purchase, it may even be 24. It may be a worldwide guarantee as well, in which case your sister may be able to get it repaired in South Africa.

I am sure someone else can advise the exact process (and perhaps worth starting a thread on this specific topic as this is hidden here in the Mobileshop thread), but needless to say, using your old phone and not getting the phone you paid for (!) is not really an acceptable outcome and I would not settle for that.

Do you guys think the ASA can help?
They are advertising a cashback that they are not paying

I doubt it, the best person to help would be you in pursuing them direct for your overdue money...

Well, I've submitted a complaint to ASA. I bought a phone from them because they advertise a cashback service which is meant to pay my line rental back. I haven't received my cashback, so they shouldn't be advertising something that they aren't honouring
  • So are these cashback offers really all they are made up to be? Is it really worth all the hassle and tearing bits of hair out of your head stressing whether the retailers will pay or not?

The offers look great but I am a bit weary especially after reading this thread.
  • I have a new problem with the O2 / mobile shop.com cashback combination. I was patiently waiting or my next bill to come though that I needed to send in for cashback.

Finally, I received bill number 10 and checked my informaition with the bill. It was then I realised that I had missed the No 9 bill and this was the one I needed to send in for cashback.

Now I'm not the most organised of people and have a pretty busy life, so I spent the rest of the evening and till 4am looking forbill No 9 which I was pretty sure I had not sent in coz I still had the pre-written envelope I had prepared to send it in with me.

I couldn't find it and was kicking myself for losing the bill and anyway I would have been past the 30day time limit for sending in anyway.

A week later, I received my No 9 bill -- 5 weeks too late. I was straight on the fone to O2 and they don't believe me. I've managed to fish out both envelopes with the dates on, but I'm not sure how suvccessful chasing this lot up is going to be....

To me this all sounds like a conspiracy so that I can't send in my bill on time.

Any mobileshop people -- don't get caught out like this -- make sure you get your bills on time!

I have been following this thread with interst, as i am in the same boat as most of you.
My first cashback payment was due to be paid on 31 March. So far, only the standard email response to my query...

Not much i can add to the thread at this point, but just thought i'd add another voice to the growing masses :)

Myself and my BF are both experiencing problems. Our last cashback payments were due to be made on 31st March but haven't had anything. I emailed them a last week and they said their systems were down and they had no payment dates available.

Today, I went on to their livechat and spoke to Kylie who copied and pasted the exact same message to me that they'd sent via email last week, with the exception that they added in a sentence saying that I could have Argos vouchers instead and that I'd get them to the value of 110% of the cashback. I told her I wasn't interested.

I also said to her "I've heard rumours that MS are in financial trouble which is why no cashback payments are being made. Is this true?" Obviously, she denied it!

Both my boyfriend and I have had to chase them for all 6 payments we've received so far from them between us. I just want the other 2 from them so we don't have to have anything to do with them again.

I'm now with The Link for cashback and don't need to send my first bill off until June, so am hoping it will be a lot easier than my experiences with MS.
