It has already been acknowledged by them so thats good eh? will keep u posted.
  • I wonder if its worth taking the argos vouchers? better a bird in the hand than 2 in the bush and all that, althouigh i cant really afford to we are on a really strict budget and i dnt need anything from argos, but having said that i probably will in the future. any thoughts? anyone done this?

I too have received the "our systems are kapputt. Would you like Argos vouchers instead"

I was a bit shocked by this because mobileshop.com have a better reputation than many out there... I've received one cash back voucher cash refund from them (had to have a little chat on livechat.. "Oh yes yours escaped our systms, sorry") and was now enquiring about the second.....

    I've written them a response...
"Why do it have to be like this, you'll kill your company. Come on nobody wants vouchers, we want our cash back.. Will it be days, months, years, ever, never, before your systems are back up?"

I don't believe that in this day and age (although see the thread about the barclays ISA.... for a !!!! up. This is giving them money. So it does happen to the best/worst of them I suppose).
We'll see. Contracts just finished. I would have gone with mobileshop.com again.....

Perhaps, these cash back schemes are actually created by God (the Gods), as a punishment for our own greed and hubris, at expecting a "free lunch". For of course we know there is no such thing...... I was going to put a simply smiley face here, but there's no more suitable one than this.... :A

The business of offering argos points to be sent almost immediately versus an indefinite wait for our money just doesn't give any confidence at all to potential new customers.

If their system won't allow them to pay us, how are they paying their other creditors?

If they are to be believed that technical difficulties prevent them writing out cheques, then their suppliers will quickly blacklist them and stop supplying them, followed swiftly by legal action, winding up requests etc. You can be sure they won't accept argos points in payment.

The technical problem appears to be that of matching up payments to contracts, not in physically paying.

They are not the first company to implement a new system and have problems.

loopy lou, I did consider taking the vouchers, but then couldn't think of anything we needed so didn't.

    That can't be true.

If you agree to take argos points they promise to send them within 7 days.

    How do you explain that?

I initially claimed my 3rd cashback payment as cash, but became worried by reports here and after a couple of weeks I opted for Argos vouchers instead, which they said would take 30 days. After some stern chasing I finally received the Argos card today after 40 days. It comes in the form of a Rewards card which Mobileshop say they will top up with the credit within 48 hours. By the way, it can also be used at Homebase.

I've now emailed them 3 times and got the same " technical error" response, and an offer of argos points.
I dont really want argos points the cashback T&C's I signed up to, were for exactly that cash substitutes like argos vouchers.
I have advised them I will be taking action via the small claims court if I havent recieved my cashback in 7 days.
