I love the name Theo, its hopefully what we will call our baby if we have a boy0

I liked Saul when I was expecting. Our son is called Wyn, which a lot of people read and see Wayne - drives me mad.
A few years ago, when I was in the registrars office to pick up a copy of my birthcert, a man ahead of me was collecting his so he could apply for his first passport. When he'd been registered, in the hospital, his parents hadn't decided on a name yet so he was registered as Baby Jones/Smith with the instruction that they needed to return within a few months to amend the baby's birth cert to reflect his actual name.
They forgot.
This 20 year old man was still registered as Baby Jones/Smith......
The list of things he needed to provide to show that he'd been using the one name all of his life was immense. He had to provide documents, from his baptism certificate, letters from primary school, high school and a letter from his employer.
So - if you're still undecided, don't make this mistake!!Sealed Pot Challenge - member 1109:j0 -

Wyn is a popular welsh name I am surprised where you are that people don't automatically say Wyn to Wayne's! I have a cousin called Gwynn.
I don't know if it was me I would stick with Baby - no one puts me in the corner!! ( bit different if he is a 6 ft brick sh.. house!)0 -
My sons are Joseph James and Miles Gregory (I like good old fashioned solid names
)
My daughter is Rowan - I was reading a book with a female character called Rowan and thought it was really pretty (of course I tell her she was named after Mr Bean lol)0 -
some of the names on this thread have made me:eek:
Please think of the child and what might see cute or different for a little baby could be a millstone around the neck for an adult.0 -
My suggestions are -
Adam
Matthew
Leo
There was a man in visiting his missus and new baby when I was in having DD. They couldn't decide on a name so picked random letter of the alphabet and created a new name :eek:Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

Names discussions always make me laugh - I've had to bite my tongue at some of the suggestions here. There's unusual and then there's chavvy :rotfl:
I'm all for avoiding top 10 (or even top 100) names, but stick with real names - not made up ones!
I agree lol
The worst ones so far have all claimed to be against chavvy names too thats what makes me lol!!!!
My DS is Kieren. Simple and not too common :A0 -
I have an almost 8 week old son and had a nightmare choosing a name for him. With our girls we had settled on both a girls and a boys name before we knew what gender they were but this time round we only had a girls name that we were set on and a list of possibles for a boy (which included both our previous choices although they have become very popular since which put us off!).
We ended up finally making a decision about an hour after his birth (needed to start ringing round to tell people he'd arrived!) and went with Ryan James. Tbh I still wasn't 100% sure even then but only because I'd wanted something to really 'grab' me like the girls names had but after exhausting every source of baby names over the course of my pregnancy there was still nothing that had, we even started watching the credits roll at the end of programmes hoping to find something different LOL!!
Our list of requirements when choosing a name are:
- that it doesn't start with the same letter as us or the other kids (my mum and sister have the same initial and used to open each others post by accident!).
- doesn't start with the same letter as our surname (just something I don't like personally)
- doesn't spell something with the initials, for example our surname starts with B so one of our choices would have made him a JCB!
- can't be abbreviated to something we don't like (love William, hate the idea of my son being called Willy! Liked James as a first name not just middle but not Jamie or Jim.)
- is easy to spell and pronounce
- isn't the same as anyone in either side of the (quite large extended!) families - have known this to cause big problems so easier to just not go there!
- is suitable for all ages/stages of life (i think a lot of the popular names at the moment are lovely on a toddler but not so much a 30 yr old!)
- isn't really popular. I liked Jack but between the kids in my daughters classes at school and the 3 years I spent working in a pre-school we knew 7 Jacks under the age of 10!
- and finally sounds ok whether he wants to be a football player or a lawyer. I think Pixie Lott suits a popstar just fine, for example but there was some medical programme on channel 4 the other night with a Dr Pixie something on it and I don't think that sounds right at all!!
Yes we're fussy, little wonder we had trouble deciding.Ryan ticked all the boxes but goodness only knows what we'd pick should we have another son!
Good luck.:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0
