    - that it doesn't start with the same letter as us or the other kids (my mum and sister have the same initial and used to open each others post by accident!).

My parents decided it was a lovely idea to give my brother, sister & I names that started with the same letter. (all 5 of us [mum, dad, brother, sister & I]) have names that start with S.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've opened post menta for my sister and had to say "sorry, I thought it was for me".

Thomas, Patrick, Sean/Shaun, Jared, Gerrard, David, Joel, Alan, Philip, Kieron, Paul, Ryan, Daryl, Darren, Robert - I don't know any more non common traditional names off the top of my head! :)

A good few of those are considered chavvy names in these parts!
Why don't you get many Michaels these days - it's a great name with a choice of abbreviations.

There is a Michael in dd's class but he is the only child I know of with that name.

Many of the names mentioned here appear in her school actually but I won't say as it will be obvious to anyone who knows the school!

I'm not really into unusual names but I quite like Elliot or Theo.

if we was had a boy we was going to call him Seth William which we felt rolled off the tounge easy enough,

all i can say is say any name out loud to each other, including possible shortened names and see how they feel and sound when different people say them (parents etc)

My dad's family are rather uninventive with names - there are at least 3 men (or were) called William Charles......

FiL's initials were WC, BiL's are IP & MiL is EAT, or if you shorten her first name BAT ...Initials can spell some funny or not-so-funny things! (had a friend Nick, with the surname O'Brien... :o)

Just something else to bear in mind!

I'm your wife on this one - calling a boy Jessy is akin to child abuse!

Oh dear - my youngest boy is called Jesse!:p
    I've also got an Asa...:j

A teacher at my school has a son with the initials WC.

My dads' initials are SPH - he once said something about me using his sauce. (HP sauce) I pointed out that it doesn't have his name on it - to which he replied "oh yes, it does!":rotfl:

We had planned on Russell for our next son, never got that far though !

My pet hate is people who dont consider the surname when picking names, i always really liked noah but 'noah norman' thats just plain wrong !!

Well I certainly now have a list of names I'll never call a boy......I won't name them but some of the 'nice' names people have put forward here are DEFINITELY at the chavvy end - you can hear them being screeched in the supermarket at any given time :)
