To get unlimited internet you need to be using one of their goodybags. Goodybags from £10 upwards have free internet. PAYG costs 20p per day for the first 20mb but goes up by an additional 20p for every mb that you go over. So 21mb would be 40p, 22mb would be 50p etc.
They do offer micro-sims and if you want to get an extra £5 credit but don't have someone to refer you go to Community > Join: Considering giffgaff? > Want someone to send you a Micro-SIM card? Look here. That post has something to click that will order a sim from a random forum member's referral link. This will give a random person 500 points and you will get an extra £5 credit when you top up £10. Don't worry, you details won't be sent to the random giffgaff customer. They'll get a message along the lines of "Thank you for spreading giffgaff a sim has been sent out to you friend, Paul" (I got one last week).
I would suggest going on the giffgaff community forum and having a look to see if it is for you. It doesn't have call centres so it's not for everyone. I've also found that there are a lot of people on the community who are ready to jump down your throat as soon as you say anything negative about their precious giffgaff.
It's mostly very good in my area, I don't know about elsewhere but as it's based on 02 coverage it should be easy enough to find out. Every now and then I have a drop in coverage or slow internet. no worse than I've had with other companies though. However I have found it a lot cheaper than other networks and I'm not tied down to a contract. I guess it just a case of figuring out what is most important for you, customer service or price?0 -
Do you have to unlock an O2 mobile to use GifGaf sim card, or do the sim cards work on mobiles locked to O2?0

http://giffgaff.com/unlock/O2-reviewsyou don't need to unlock your O2 phone, just pop your SIM card in and it should work fine!0

Can't see them changing the Goodybags.
I think for 99% of people the GB is by far the best offer.
My only worry is they go bust.
Cracking network, love them!0 -

They are unlikely to go bust, what with being owned by o2 and all - 2 things would likely happen first, put their prices up or just stop the service.0 -
Aye maybe worded that wrong. Just hoping their business model is profitable enough for them to continue.0

Nevertheless, I'll enjoy it while it lasts!!0 -
I live in Camden, how fast is the internet roughly in London?
Is the cost of the £10 package likely to go up soon? I don't mind costs outside of the plan going up as long as the £10 doesn't and it keeps the internet package.0 -
The cost outside of the goodybag are going up think its october they have not mentioned about goodybag going up so looks like they will stay this price well at least for few months.0
