Partial Quote " As you can see from the title, we need to discuss our standard price rates over the following days. The meat of it being that there will be a need for a price increase on our standard call and text rates.

Hopefully wont be too much of an increase & it only will affect standard payg pricing, not goodybags & the unlimited data/texts that go wirh them.

A lot of people moved to GG from Asda when Asda put the prices up, there was a lot of moanin about the increase and some people vooted with there feet. Won't the same happen if GG put up prices?
A lot is probably get people in with cheap rates then rely on apathy when you jack them up, a lot of people will stay rather than move as it's not worth the hassle.0 -
Bah, I hope it's not by too much...
(I must say though, I do find the fact that they're so colloquial a little irritating. "You've topped up - nice one!" "Leave a message - lovely jubbly!" Am I getting old?)0 -
Hmm, this price news isn't the best timing - I was just looking into ditching T-Mob for GiffGaff but all this talk of "goodybags" makes my skin crawl..
The concept of altering your package on demand sounds good, but wth is a goodybag? Do they still come with lollipops & a toy?
Basically I wish to ditch T-Mob for something cheaper.
I'm currently on 100mins, unlimited texts & unlimited data for a tenner p/m and I'd like to get that down to maybe £5p/m.
I require a relatively decent amount of mins (at least 60x p/m to all numbers), about 50x texts or so, and unlimited data.
(I very rarely use any data as I'm a desktop guy really & I loath facebook etc.., but when I do need it, I don't want to be counting, I want it to just work).
The crayola-style giffgaff site is a bit too childish for my liking, and while it's colourful, is very short on detail.
Can anyone who's on GiffGaff tell me how you would go about meeting the above requirements, spending less than a tenner, on a reliable basic (ie; you don't have to mess about to re-top up every 4wks, prices won't bounce up & down, etc..)
I'm perfectly willing to give GG a go, but I need to know exactly what I'm signing up for before I do, to know that it can be relied on not to change, and the GG forum doesn't exactly fill me with confidence like asking on here does (does that sound terrible? :rotfl:)
Thanks all.0 -

You can have one of my carrier pigeons if you like. They don't eat £5 seed per month! Apart from that, can't help with the package you seem to want.0 -
@ pigeon, proper MSE! :money:
(I wonder if the posh ones come with a qwerty keyboard)
I'm not completely unfamiliar with phones, tariffs & the like, I just like to know what I'm signing up for first.
As much as I don't like paying a company like T-Mo over the odds (there are many folk also on T-Mo getting more than my deal for less than I pay), I do like how it's well defined - You can see what you're getting & it all makes sense; X-number of mins, Y-number of texts, and (hopefully), ∞ data.
To pinch a line from the other thread, I suppose I've been apathetic for a while, assuming that I couldn't get the bill any lower, but this being mse, I must assume that I'm probably wrong in that assumption.
If it's not possible to "cold approach" a carrier to beat a tenner then I can accept that, but you know, I'd be daft not to *try* & improve upon my current deal.0 -
Talk Mobile seems to have some of the best rates at the moment, perhaps its going to be time to switch again?0

To be fair it was only going to be a matter of time, By their own admission they are being hammered on free GG to GG calls - Some people have moved their family and friends across to GG and top up £10 once every 3 months and get unlimited calls to each other, Also teenagers are taking advantage of their unlimited text and data offers which they must be struggling to sustain.
They have reached a point of mass usage now and obviously need to rein it in a bit - Their costs must be huge on the above aswell as added to the fact they offer 'payback' to members, Pay people via cashback sites to order their SIMs and give free credit away. I think we will see them moving to a more sustainable business model and be in line with other PAYG companies.:dance:Quidco Payments In 2011 - £724.21
June: £43.15/July: £51.22/August: £90.60/September: £29.75/October: £284.07/November: £171.08/December: £29.220 -

If this happened with t-mobile they'd have cut my speed by huge amounts unless I paid them to stop messing with the speed.
Somehow makes giff-gaffs goodiebags look 100% more mature in comparison to t-mobile!0 -
Yeah but t-mobile do funny things to your speed if you use the "unlimited" data too much. Can be done, before I left 3 I had at one point clocked up over 2gb inside a month!! I didn't go tethering, I just used the internet a great deal and found a music site I liked and streamed and downloaded loads, sent loads of emails, visited many forums, downloaded vouchers....!

The poster was clearly talking about Talk Mobilehttp://www.talkmobile.co.uk/pay_as_you_go_essential.html Not T-Mobile.
Not the first time you have confused themhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3364684=
