Vodafone seems to be the most active complaints thread simply because there are so many complaints about them and their service - Their are complaints threads for T-Mobile, Orange, 3 etc, however those along with the other networks seem to have very little use as on the whole people are pleased with their service which i assume is the same case for GiffGaff.:dance:Quidco Payments In 2011 - £724.21
June: £43.15/July: £51.22/August: £90.60/September: £29.75/October: £284.07/November: £171.08/December: £29.220 -
I think vodaphone threads are useful because someone from Vodaphone(staff) replys to threads and does fix a lot of stuff I dont think Orange or Tmobile come here only thing I say about Giffgaff is the 02 3g side of things but not Giffgaffs fault.0

Ive been with them for a year now without problems.3g is the only issue for some but here in Aberdeen it is ok within the city limits.

I have been with them for about 3 months now. Just wanted to say how good there support forums are. I have had a couple of problems which were phone related and have received so much help it is unbelievable. Problems resolved within minutes by knowledgeable people.0

i have been with them couple of months gone from £45 iphone contract on o2 down to £10 month on GG suites me fine as i text and use data more than calls.
Only problem i have is i am unable to use iphone catch up tv or skysports mobile as it buffers every minute or so,used to work perfect on o2 so i reckon GG must throttle the data???0 -
Hi All
I will get an iPhone in a couple of months and I am thinking of using giffgaff. I have a couple of questions:
1) If I purchased a PAYG iPhone from Carphonewarehouse, would I be able to get it sim free? If no, would the o2 PAYG version need unlocking for a giffgaff sim, or will it accept it because they are a part of the same group. Note, I have to buy the phone through CPW because I will be using a salary sacrifice voucher that I will get from my firm.
2) Has anyone else experienced the problem that johnny mentioned - that giffgaff 'throttles' the data?
3) Because I can get the 16gb phone for c.£385 (because the salary sacrifice voucher is free of NI and tax), does this seem like one of the cheapest options for me? I have had a look at straightforward contracts, and it seems to be a more expensive option than using giffgaff. I only need 250 minutes per month max.
4) Any downsides to going on a PAYG option like giffgaff?
Grateful for any answers.0 -
P.S. Looks like they can be very expensive for roaming!?0

Wohoo - from the giffgaff website:
Handy tip: If your handset is locked to O2 it will work fine with giffgaff.0 -
Roaming isnt much more than any other operator on PAYG. One big advantage of going PAYG is if you are going abroad you arent going to return to a massive bill for roaming charges, happens alot when people forget to turn off data. I think it is £1 per min in europe (not £1/sec as many people seem to think! It is charged per second not £1 per second).
1) - Yes, O2 phones will work
2) - Not me, I have tested the speed at a few different places (home, work etc) compared to vodafail and get roughly the same speeds.
3) - It is a good deal, would only cost £10/month for what you use. If you buy the Iphone, that works out at an extra £16 a month over 24 months so this works out at £26/month, so compare that to other contracts.
4) - Only downsides are you have to top up, this doesnt really take much effort as there are various ways of doing it. You can also set up auto-topup using a bank card if you would prefer.
One great thing is you can cancel whenever you want as you are not tied into any contract. Also if you arent going to be using the phone for a while you dont pay anything, if you want to change how many minutes you get any month you can.0 -

Thanks for the reply. I understand that you can set it up so that one goodybag starts as another one ends, so not really that much trouble, right?
I really can't see a way of doing the whole iPhone thing cheaper than doing it through this, especially with the salary sacrifice.0
