All those saying they are leaving O2 to other networks cause of the data cap... http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/Mobile_Exec/Orange_poised_to_scrap_unlimited_data.aspx LMAO

Realistically this is no different to the broadband industry a few years ago.

Everyone was unlimited then traffic shaping and limits came in, lot of fuss then but after a few months it all settled down.

Right I'm on Orange currently but contract will expire on 26th. If I got £15 Simplicity now with 02, then bought the iphone4 on PAYG on the 24th and said bye bye to Orange on the 26th what happens to my number?

Do I have to ask for a PAC code from Orange now and give that to o2 when I order my simplicity sim?

I've always been with Orange so never had to transfer a number before, no idea what PAC code is or does!

    Thanks in advance

What a clever idea on getting around the data download. I think I will take the 12 month offer up.
    So that will be 12 x £15 £180
Cost of phone is going to be at least £450/£500, so will work out better overall too.

    Hey dustystar!

With O2 you don't have to transfer your number when you take out your contract. You can do this at anytime after. So, order your simplicity, ask Orange for your pac code, when you get your simplicty sim call O2 and give them your Orange PAC code, your number will then be transfered to O2 within 2 working days I think it is.

Using your PAC code will automatically terminate your Orange contract but remember you will have to give 30 days notice so even if your contract ends on the 26th you will have to pay them a months line rental from when you "give notice".

If you want the 32GB i think its going to be more like £600

But yeah, think it should work out about same price, but with unlimited data instead of 500mB

as I said in a previous post, don't foget to get your simplicity via Quidco to get an extra few quid in ya pocket http://www.quidco.com/o2

Will equate to about one month free depending on what tariff you use. It's a shame it's only £25 at the moment, it has been as high as £200 in recent months!!!!

If you don't already use Quidco then maybe http://www.topcashback.co.uk/o2/ would be better as there is no annual £5 fee

  • Just had a webchat on O2.

If you are an existing O2 customer on a non-iPhone contract, you can buy a PAYG iPhone 4, get a mini sim for your existing number, shove it in your iPhone and off you go!!

No loss of unlimited internet (until your renewal). No need to get an additional simplicity contract and you flog your old phone (or keep it to use when you flog your iPhone 4 to get ready for the next upgrade).

    Hope this helps.

Hmm im not sure what to go for..
My contact ends in Dec - £100 to buy out of contact
+ £600 (ish) for phone PAYG
    + 180 a yr (£15x12 Simplicity)
    = £880
and sell my phone for £350 ish (32GB) works out costing me £530 for 12 months
Over 18 months (Know its a 12 month plan just comparing to the contact) would work out £620

    On contact
    £100 to buy out contact
£275 ish (maybe £300) 32GB to buy with contact
    £630 (18 Months) which works out £420 a year (£35 a month)
    = £795 a yr - £350 = £445 a year
    Over 18 months its £655

both pretty much the same, but obv one is 12 month simplicity and 18 month contact
Think i may be best going for the simplicity, ordering my sim before 24th so at least ill benefit from the unlimited internet etc for 12 months

Well if you went this route you wouldnt need to buy out your contract, just use that sim in your PAYG iPhone 4. Get simplicity for iPhone in December, sure you wont have unlimited data but how important is that for you? Would be a much better saving
