Ok cheers, that's good then. So does the 12 month simplicity contract start from when you buy the sim or from when its activated. I won't be able to use the sim until I get my Iphone 4 on the 24th0

Just rang T-Mobile on a completely unrelated subject. Anyway, the guy got talking and asked if I was going to be interested in the new iPhone.. and they said expect information on prices from them in the next few days.
They ended up grovelling and giving me a load of free minutes for six months.. even though I'm on PAYG. :beer:0 -
So could I really do something like this? I currently dont have an iPhone but want an iPhone 4
-Sign up to a 12 month Simplicity for iPhone for £15 a month NOW (300 mins, unlimited texts and web)
-Buy an iPhone 4 on Pay As You Go for, lets say £600
Which would cost me £780 for a yearm or £960 if i kept for two years
This would compare with getting a new contract when it coems out for:
-24 month contract, 300 mins, unlimited texts, 500MB for £30 a month
-Phone would cost between £250 and £300 (mostly lilely)
That would cost between £970 and £1020
The no brainer thing seems to be to do the first thing, but that seems far to simple
Am I missing something?0 -

From when you buy the sim (A little tip, when you get your iPhone 4 call O2 and tell them you've only just received the sim in the post, they will credit back the days you have'nt had the sim. i.e buy it today and then call them on the 24th, you'll get 13 days credited)cheesemason wrote: »Am I missing something?
Nope, that is without question the most sensible way to get an iPhone 4 IMHOHardcore moneysaver0 -
All those saying they are leaving O2 to other networks cause of the data cap... http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/Mobile_Exec/Orange_poised_to_scrap_unlimited_data.aspx LMAOHardcore moneysaver0

Live chat I've just had with someone form O2. Seems to confirm the clever way around getting the data cap
Welcome to O2 live chat. Someone will start chatting with you soon.
You're through to Lindsey.
Lindsey: Hi there. My name's Lindsey I am an O2 advisor, may I take your name please?
You: Hi,my name is Tim. I am lookng at signing up to a 12 month Simplicity for iPhone
Lindsey: Ok that's great.
Lindsey: Is there anything you are not sure of?
You: If i signed up today, recieved my Sim through the post for example next week, and didnt register it on my phoneuntil the week after, when would I start getting charged?
Lindsey: You start getting charged four days after you order.
Lindsey: The sims take 1-3 working days to be delivered.
Lindsey: Your first bill would come out 14-18 days after you receive your package. After that, you can arrange a more convenient date with customer services if you want.
You: I'll be honest here and want to know if something would work
Lindsey: Ok.
You: If i signed up for SImplicity today and then bought an iPhone 4 on 24th June, would I get the current allowance deal for the Simplicity contract, or the ones that come into effect on 24th June?
Lindsey: The ones that come into effect as you would be upgrading to a new contract.
You: But if i bought the iPhone on Pay As You Go, couldnt I use that phone on the 'old' Simplicity contract?
Lindsey: Yes.
You: So in that case I would have an iPhone 4 but on the old Simplicity terms, i.e. unlimited internet? Within fair usage of course
Lindsey: Yes that's right as you would be on the same terms as the simplicity sim you ordered before 24th.
You: Sounds like a good deal to me!
You: Thanks for your help0 -

Any suggestions on the best package to drop to to run out my last six months of my contract?0 -

One thing I forgot to ask, and I cant seem to get a LiveChat window up anymore - when you get the new iPhone 4, you'll need a new microsim. Will they send you one of these without you taking out a new contract on new terms?0 -
More interrogation! Seems the only possible downfall would be if the Phone costs something like £650-£700.
Hopefully the price of the phones will be released before its too late!
Welcome to O2 live chat. Someone will start chatting with you soon.
You're through to Chris.
Chris: Hi there. My name's Chris I am an O2 advisor, may I take your name please?
You: Hi, my name is Tim
Chris: Welcome to O2. What brings you here today?
You: I am looking at getting a Simplicity for iPhone 12 month deal. If I get this now, and in a months time buy an new iPhone 4 (not on contract), would you send me a new microsim for the iPhone 4 which would work on my exisiting Simplicity deal?
Chris: Yes if you get the new iPhone you will just need to call us and request a new sim card, we will then put your current plan on the new micro sim and keep you on that.
Chris: Does that work for you?
You: So in other words, I wouldnt lose the unlimited data that the current deal allows, before going down to 500MB on new contracts from 24th June?
Chris: No, I would advise you take the contract today so that you get to keep your unlimited internet on the new sim
You: Thanks, thats great0 -
